Beautiful city center apartments in Ghent near medieval castle

This unit has a wonderful location and is reasonably quiet because it is high up. The owner was very responsive when we contacted them about an issue & the mattresses were comfy. It is quite spacious.

When you book online it isn’t clear which unit you will stay in. We stayed in unit 2D. The unit generally shows wear, with broken deck boards on the terrace, stained sofa, cracked counter tops, moldy grout in the bathroom shower, cracked housing around the electrical outlets in the bathroom & improper housing of the outlet in the kitchen (which is pretty concerning). The biggest issue is there is no way to adhere the handheld shower to the wall, so you have to set it down to soap up, etc. The tub also has a bulkhead that juts over half of it, so if you are over 64 inches or so, plan on stooping, bumping your head, or leaning to the side. I had to wash my hair leaning over the bathtub, which for the price of the unit is a bit ridiculous. Also, there were no linens for the sofa bed the first night, so I gave my friend my duvet and slept with my coat as a blanket. When they dropped off the linens the next day, they did not make up the duvet cover. Again, ridiculous for the price. Overall, If you just want to be in the midst of it all and these issues don’t bother you, this is a great place.

The location of this apartment is great and the views are stunning! Because you are so high up, the noise is minimal (didn't bother us at all when sleeping). The beds were very comfortable. There was lots of room to spread out (we had the apartment with the clock window) and lots of comfy seating options. Getting into the apartment was really easy, and the photo's sent beforehand made finding the front door a breeze. We would absolutely stay here again, despite what I'm about to say below.

The "shower" in our place was lacking (this is really my only complaint). It was a bath, with a removable shower head but the way the wall jutted out you could not stand easily. Plus there was no plug, so having a proper bath was off the table too. The cocking around the tub wasn't the cleanest, and needs to be redone. Also, we did loved our apartment however I thought I had booked the other apartment. I think they are similar and you will get whichever is available (just be forewarned, if you had your heart set on one or the other it might be good to specify).
