Benidaruma - Usagi

The staff was very friendly and the place looked so cute with a lot of nice details. You can see that the owner loves to build a place that looks appealing. Everything was cleaned well and the location is perfect, if you want to explore the northern part of Kyoto.

The price was quite high for a place with shared bathrooms.

It’s beautiful for starters. It’s well decorated and you can tell someone put their heart into it. Very clean and quiet. There’s a common shower room with a tub and a stacked kitchen. Both were very nice and offer all that is needed for a comfortable stay. The owner is very compassionate and was helpful. We were touched by how genuinely welcoming he was. Language barrier wasn’t an issue, and for complicated communication Google Translate can be used. The whole neighborhood is peaceful and quiet, with many excellent restaurants. The nearby sushi, okonomiyaki and yakiniku were amazing and the prices are good. Overall the best place to stay if you’re traveling for friends, and looking to steer away from the crowded parts of Kyoto. There’s a bus station right next to the house. Route 5. Google the timetable for “bus route 5 takaragaike”

Wi-Fi is slow

This is definitely the place to stay in if you want to feel real Japan! Host was extremely helpful and nice. Rooms and the house itself are in the traditional Japanese style. Materaces on the floor are very comfy, this was my first experience and I liked it. Tables and pillows to sit in yoga style makes you feel like a local. You have fridge in the room, microwave for your disposal. Self-made breakfast included, which means you can take whatever you find in the kitchen, even if you check-out early. Special must have is to ask the host prepare bath for you - traditional japanese bath gives you relax after the hard day. Reservation of the slot required when checking-in. Location nearby is very picturesque. In a small jars near the house there are small colourful fishes. When walking from subway in the evening we met a group of about 15 deers near the river. 24h market is 200m from the house
