The place is truly magical and the owner and his son are very friendly and kind people. You can ask them anything, they are always there for you. Also a huge breakfast and drinks always available!

The staff were very attentive, cute old house with tatami mat rooms and great communal kitchen with plenty of free snacks if you're ever hungry! Nice quiet location away from the craziness of central Kyoto in cherry blossom season but still close to a train (Eizan railway).

Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper - between the train just behind the accommodation and the literal paper thin walls between you and the other guests, it was loud at both ends of the day. As with all accommodation like this, toilets and bathroom were downstairs, so only for the able-bodied. Also for English speakers, note that on Google it comes up as Benidaruma - Dango, which is just the name of different room you can book (they all have names, I was in usagi). There is also no English sign, but it's up a driveway at the back next to the post office.

Comfortable and budget accommodation available on the last minute. Quiet location on the periphery of Kyoto, but still easy accessible via local train and a short scenic walk through the park. I liked the traditional Ryokan style and especially the wooden bathroom with hot bath. Very friendly and polite staff.

Super friendly owner, great location for visiting Hieizan and Kurama, both trains are really cool (it is worth taking a ride just for the ride). The place has its unique atmosphere, lots of traditional Japanese elements. The room was spacious and the futon comfortable. There is a kitchen with a fridge full of food which can be used for free. The house is old but everything is very clean. I love the bath/ofuro, small but made of wood. Bath and toilets are shared. The train station and a bus stop is less than 5 min. from the house. The owner was very kind and helpful.

The only thing that might be a problem is that the railway is very close, but there are not too many trains, as it is the special line to Kurama and Hieizai.
