Kyorakuya

The apartment is in a quiet, residential neighborhood. It's fairly spacious, and perfect for a short stay. It's not super well connected in terms of getting to main Kyoto sites, but you can walk to the awesome Umekoji park which my kids absolutely love - amazing for water play & the cafe next to the playground is great too. If you want to experience a normal neighbourhood, this is a great way to do it. Toji temple is really close - the monthly (?) flea market there is definitely worth exploring.

The bathroom, while clean, isn't well ventilated so there's a bit of mold.

Responsive manager. Accessible to most places by Kyoto bus (standard fare adult230yen). Comfortable room. Able to walk to Kyoto station with a stroller in under 30mins. Will stay again

Incredible two-floor house. The first floor is where you cook and do the living. Really spacious and well lit, with enough kitchen utensils for cooking. The bath is huge, you really feel like royalty. The second floor is where you sleep. It consists of two traditional Japanese dormitories with tatami and futons!!

As soon as we arrived at the property from our long flight, realized there was so soap and also found our that there were two toilet papers and no garbage bags for 7 nights booking. We contacted the owner but he said buy extra toilet paper and garbage bags. Also, he said buy a soap and send him the receipt to reimburse the money… we were very disappointed. We just arrived and had to take care of all of these.. we went upstairs and found hairs on our blankets.. didn’t even bother to complain because we knew they would do nothing. No laundry hanger. Just clothes hanger and nothing to hang clothes. We had to put them out to dry our laundries and asked neighbours if that’s ok and they said that’s ok but the owner contacted us to bring them inside…. I won’t recommend this place. No umbrella too. First place that no umbrella offered in Japan.
