Riva Royal Lounge Apartment

Property owner stated that check-in procedure was "someone will meet you at the location to let you in". That was stated in the Booking.com ad, as well as messages directly to and from him. No one met us when we arrived. We texted and called him, only to be told no one was coming to let us in, (he was in Germany). He told us to text him photos of our passports, and when I balked and asked his name, he refused. I said we would show our passports to whoever he sent to the property, but he insisted we needed to text them photos of our passports before we could check in. We had to get another place to stay and lug considerable luggage through old town Split to find an available hotel.

Landlord misrepresented check-in procedures. Not only on the property listing, but in several messages about our early arrival (I asked for early check in, and he continued to state "someone will meet you". ) It is a self check in property, but passports are not uploaded in a secure portal beforehand- Landlord requires passports to be texted to him upon arrival. This is a violation of the EU's privacy regulations because it is an unsecure transfer of personal information, but Booking.com did not help resolve this issue. Landlord refused to refund our prepaid booking, despite his unlawful check in procedures. Landlord is dishonest- Terrible experience.

The location of this apartment is excellent, just situated at the old town and close to the pier for island hopping !! Very convenient, even at night if you got drunk, you can go back home easily and safely (Hahaha...)

The towels are quite dirty.
