EMI Apartment

A very spacious apratment located in the heart of the old town. A perfect base for exploring the beautiful city of Riga.

A trade off for being in the heart of the old town is that it can be a little noisy in the street below on a Friday & Saturday night - this can be overcome by going and joining in with the fun!

We had issue with the bed however quick phone call and this was sorted.

This apartment is inside the old city. The street has cafes that made it very simple to go out for dinner. The 2 bedroom apartment we got was much bigger than expected. Very large lounge, dining and kitchen area. We had good views from our windows. I think we even had a small balcony we could sit on. Access to the main door and our apartment was by door codes. The building had a lift which is most important when checking in and out with luggage. The location was great for seeing the sights in the old city.

I'm not a fan of the increasing trend to doing everything by email and then getting door or key lock codes. At least we weren't asked to email copies of passports. The only other thing is also a good thing. The cafes on the street also included a bar with karaoke it sounded like. On our first night, it was quite loud. The second night was noticeably less so. It may depend on how many people are in the area at any one time. The windows were double glazed and did cut the noise somewhat. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

The apartment was very spacious. Kitchen was well equipped and had sufficient dishes that using the dishwasher was practical. The location was great and we could easily walk to most attractions. Supermarket was one a few minutes walk away and so plenty of restaurants. When we didn’t get any hot water, I contacted our host and she was very quick to respond and came back shortly to let us know that the entire neighborhood had no hot water because of some work being done.

The bathroom was big but the bath tub was very deep which made it hard to get in and out of and definitely ensafe if you are short or has mobility problems. A grab bar would have been useful. Lots of light fixtures but many pointed in the wrong direction. The ceiling light in one of the bedroom was not working. Some written instructions would have been useful. We wanted to have some heat but wasn’t sure what we needed to do. We did accidentally get some working.

The apartment was in a brilliant location, very central, easy to locate and access.

It was quite noisy on an evening, lots of the lights didn’t work and the sofa was a bit worn.
