Het is een mooi appartement met alle voorzieningen, behalve een airco. Het appartement zit in een seniorencomplex, dat is niet wat wij verwacht hadden, met een ondergrondse parkeerplaats. Naar Cascais rijden met auto is kwartiertje. Met de trein naar Lissabon duurt iets meer dan half uur. Er zit een organisatie tussen als verhuurder, de dame die wij zagen had weinig informatie over de omgeving. Daarom hierbij enkele tips die wij graag hadden willen weten: als je uit het appartement loopt en 2x links gaat, kom je bij paar kleine winkeltjes die goed zijn voor ontbijt. De trein gaat dichtste bij van station Sao Pedro do Estoril. Je kunt kaartje kopen in een apparaat, dit staat aan de andere kant van het station. Uit het raam zie je de zee, maar naar het strand lopen is nog een hele tour, we gingen uiteindelijk met de auto. De sleutel van de gym kun je halen bij de beveiliging.

Zie hierboven, de lokatie viel ons tegen, dat je niet vanuit je appartement naar een gezellige omgeving kon lopen. Daarnaast kon het personeel weinig praktische tips voor de omgeving geven.

We were very pleased with our 10 day stay at Bafureira Cascais Apartment. The apartment was much bigger than we thought and it suited us well. 2 adults and 2 teenagers especially with 3 toilets! The balcony has view of the sea. Access 2 pools, small play ground and basketball court and a gym. Most people who use the pool seem to be locals who live in the apartments so pool area is not busy. Very safe with security at entrance ( very friendly and top tip if the gyn is closed they have the key) The beach is less than 10 min walk either via the tunnel behind the complex ( via BP station) or via tunnel by the little train station at Sao Pedro do Estoril. We really liked that this is not a tourist area, most people we saw on the beach, local cafes bar, restaurants and supermarkets were locals. Very friendly area and most people helped us in English. The train to Lisbon or Cascais from Parede is a 20 min walk ( there is a small station 5 min walk away at Sao Pedro do Estoril but we couldn't work out how to purchase tickets from there) . Another top tip is the chicken take away near Parede station has the most tasty chicken at a good price. The agency who manages the apartment is very helpful too, charging our check out time to suit as an example

We missed a chopping board

This location suited us really well, as we were able to combine a city visit with time on the beach and relaxing. There is a station less than 10 minutes walk away with regular trains into Lisbon (c.35 mins) or Cascais (c.10 mins). The ticket machines in the station are really easy to use. Using the same card (navegante), you can buy day tickets for the whole transport region, or single journeys, or load it up with credit and use it across trains, buses, metro etc. which is what we did. It will take you all the way to Sintra (the bus from Estoril takes 30 minutes, so no need to go via Lisbon). We had some extremely hot days, so having the beach just 10 minutes walk away and the pool in the apartment complex was wonderful. The apartment itself is very large and airy, with a nice balcony, and the complex is very well kept, secure and family friendly. Given the weather, lots of people wanted to use the pool but it was easy to find a sun lounger or bench to sit on. It was very pleasant, even when busy. At first sight, the area looks a bit gritty and urban. The main road along the coast is something of a speed track for the locals. But there are actually a number of really nice bars and cafes just minutes from the apartment, for coffee and cakes (Garden Cafe), brunch (Flora and Fauna), or a drink watching the sunset (Ponte do Sal). You can also have a really decent meal on the beach front, or just a drink.

As mentioned, the apartment is really large, so it was surprising to find it lacking a number of basic things (i.e. scissors, a chopping board). It’s for four people but has just two chairs on the balcony, only three matching wine glasses etc. We stayed for nine days but had just one set of towels. We were given two tabs for the washing machine and two for the dishwasher. It’s not a big deal, but we’ve stayed for fewer days in much smaller places that had more in the cupboards. We’ve included quite a bit of info above as there was nothing like this for us on arrival. Mario, who greeted us was very welcoming and friendly, and told us a few helpful things, but there was zero information the apartment concerning local amenities.

We loved the location and convenience to both Lisbon and the silver coast. The place was wonderfully quiet and relaxed.

I wish the bed was softer. It was a little too hard for my taste. That said, I know that is is a matter of taste.

Fabulous apartment, well equipped and very comfortable. Really appreciated 'welcome pack'...toiletries, coffee pods, etc. Excellent location. Apartment complex was very good, great pool, good facilities.

Information about local facilities (shopping, etc) would have been helpful. Lack of shop on site.
