Awesome place, great and friendly staff.

The location. Recommendation to express to take a good vehicle, the road was bad.

The location and grounds are absolutely beautiful ! It is truly in the middle of the jungle (tropical birds and monkeys can be heard all around) and a peaceful oasis. Every single staff member we worked with was kind and accommodating. The grounds were very well kept . My kids loved being able to kayak, swing, and paddle board whenever they wanted (you can just take them from the dock at anytime). Life jackets provided. The rooms were gorgeous and clean with good air conditioning. The pool was also beautiful and well kept. The access to the lake was perfect and my kids could have spent weeks just playing there. Food at the restaurant was delicious.

Please note that I highly rated this property and even extended my original stay. But to go from a 9 to a 10 a few suggestions- first, as others have noted the road to arrive is difficult which is fine - you are isolated in the jungle- but more markers from the main road would be helpful . You do not need a 4x4 at all (we had a small compact car) but will need to drive very slowly and carefully. For those wishing to go into the main town often it makes it difficult. Second, If you are afraid of bugs this is NOT the place to stay as it is in the jungle. Flies and mosquitoes were everywhere. I understand this is part of the location but it did make it difficult to enjoy the bar/restaurant and pool after dusk- I believe some implementations like more fans or areas with mosquitos nets could help solve this. The food at the bar/restaurant was very good but service can be very slow and many menu items often aren’t available (once again- you are in the jungle!) so be prepared for that. Even with these things I would highly recommend to the right type of traveler!

Property was beautiful food was mediocre

There was no one at the front desk when we arrived, and for the most part of the day, we had to look someone down at the deck area to help us out.

The restaurant was very understaffed so everything was taking a very long time, even for Meixco standards

Room was nice, although it didn't have all the comforts listed in the add. Hot tub was outside the room. Some of the staff actually wanted us to enjoy our stay. Beach area was nice with the possibility to go swimming.

It was a construction site (noisy, crowded with construction workers and their cars) and all the friends of the owner (!) were hanging around the hotel. With their kids. Yes, under 8 years against the hotel policy. Lounge was not in use. There was no listing of what the breakfast includes so you had to guess what they have. They didn't speak English at the restaurant. Pet friendly but no instructions for walking the dog or even a water bowl for the dog. Asked about a boat trip and it was arranged at a quite high price. Guide didn't speak any English and the boat broke down and we drifted for an hour until help was provided. No compensation for the inconvenience. There was a lot of waiting - upon arrival, waiting the room to be ready, at the breakfast, to get drinks from the bar... It was hard to reach, the road is in really bad condition and no road signs.

The property is located at the lake front and has magnificent views. The atmosphere is very laid back and relaxing. There are kayaks and paddle boards free to use. Three cabins in the front area, two with lake view. In addition, there are 4 more cabins in the back area (jungle). AC in units worked great.

The road is horrible, drive slowly and do not go by Google maps, this entrance is very rough. Use the other side (further from Bacalar) to commute, a little longer but safer. The restaurant food was delicious (tacos, steak) but it took them an hour and a half to bring the food out. Not much alcohol, mainly beer. Just two people speak English, hard to communicate with staff (waitresses). No breakfast menu. No soap in the bathrooms, insects found in cabins, some windows with no curtains (just transparent screens), very loud frogs in the night, staff gather in the tv area till late at night. Also, beware before renting the pontoon boats, when asked for the price were told the boat is free, but the captain works for tips. Booked for the next day and when we came back from the boat trip - they came and said the boat was $4500 pesos. Had to negotiate but they ruined the whole experience.
