Duomo Luxury Apartment Orvieto

This apartment was nice and spacious with good beds. It had an incredible view of the beautiful duomo. The bathrooms were also great.

Coming from the USA, you expect certain amenities like the kitchen has paper towels, or the bathroom might provide you with soap, shampoo, and toilet paper. This facility literally ONLY provides you with 1 towel and hand towel per bedroom. We had the leftover toilet paper but once you ran out...you were on your own (bidet time). This facility has no AC so you have to sleep with the windows open and hear all the noises going on outside the apartment.

We had a number of minor issues that combined added up to a very disappointing stay (especially considering the $$ charged). Examples- (1) the gentleman that greeted us with the keys didn't seem interested in helping us with a rude parking attendant (to be clear - the parking is independent from the apartment, but we were only 1/2 block away and could have used the help of an Italian-speaking person) ; (2) there was only 1/4 roll of toilet paper in each bathroom ; (3) the shower drain is time-release - can't enjoy the rain shower-head unless you don't mind standing on a puddle of shower water (we used the 2nd bathroom instead). These are just 3 examples - there were other minor issues also. Again, I stress that each of these is minor, but combined added up to an unpleasant evening. I explained these issues to the host and he was very gracious in his response. It's not easy to deal with complaints / criticism and I give him a lot of credit for the way he responded. I trust the host when he says he carefully reviewed my feedback and I really believe they will improve for future guests.

The location could not be better. It's about 60 meters from the main door to the Duomo (Cathedral). Key pick up was super easy, I texted the owner on WhatsApp as I went up the Funicular railway and someone met me at the door when I got to the apartment 5 minutes latter. The apartment is huge and very nicely furnished, the photos don't do it justice.

amazing! in every way!! beautiful location, furniture, kitchen, bathrooms, everything. absolutely perfect. we could park across the piazza and even drive up to the flat to drop off our luggage. the place is so beautiful and huge and the kitchen is gorgeous. and the location could not be better. we loved this place so much! notes for other travelers: there are stairs with a solid hand rail up to the flat. there are stairs with a solid hand rail up to the bedrooms. the spiral staircase doesn’t take you anywhere so you never need to use it. Orvieto is a walking town, lots of cobblestones and some steps. incredible restaurants and shops. amazing place to stay in every way.

The Apartment is beautiful and has the perfect location in the piazza next to the duomo.. which the owner will remind you about if there is anything else lacking.. it is all about location and not about hospitality.

There were no hand towels or dish towels to use. We reserved the house for 2 nights and ran out of toilet paper on the first afternoon and had to go to the store to buy more. There was no bar soap or shampoo as listed on the site. The worst part was that the bedrooms were SO HOT and there was no way to adjust the heat. If we opened the windows the noise from the piazza and smoke from people lighting off fireworks in the piazza every night made it impossible to sleep. (We stayed there in the summer and there was no AC and it was unbearable). Alessandro told us we had to take out our own trash and made the guest walk across the piazza with her kitchen trash while the cab was waiting. At 600 euros per night you would think that trash would be included in the price after a 2 night stay. No other BnB has required this in the past. The house is beautiful but dealing with the management leaves a bad taste in your mouth and makes it not feel like a holiday. We get it, the location is great, however the hospitality falls short on several counts. Especially when friends stayed nearby and had an AMAZING experience with their host.
