City Escape Taroona

Lovely, private and self-contained. The host was welcoming and accommodating. The rooms were comfortable, quiet and very clean.

Like new accommodation that's well fitted out, private with nice garden and view of park at rear. Picturesque coastal walk at end of street and good base to explore southern Tas.

We liked practically everything. Peter is a capable host, and has an impressive resume to back it up. Our meals were scrumptious and reasonable priced. We were out and about most of each day of our stay, so having Peter cook for us was incredibly convenient. Privacy was sufficient and our room was cosy and sufficient. Streaming services were an added bonus, as were the other little touches. Even though we had our stay all planned out, Peter was still knowledgable and was happy to offer his advice on things to do. Was nice to meet the neighbours cat Fluffy on occasion. Things like the separation of our kitchen and living quarters, along with minor noise of people walking overhead was part of the house itself. It can't be changed without rebuilding the house so we just accepted it. Would stay again if future allows it.

Not much to 'complain' about. - Parking is on the street only. There can be alot of other cars around, so it's not as convenient as it could be. - The size of the bedroom/living area/bathroom felt abit small, although this may have seemed as a resulting contrast of our previous, larger accommodation.

This should be the standard that all other homestays are measured against. I have stayed at dozens of homestays around the world and this was one of the best. The room itself is very cozy, warm and comfortable. There are several heating options to keep you warm in the night. There is Netflix and a few other streaming services. The bed is also quite comfortable. It's the little touches here, however, that make it special. There are a few little snacks for you when you arrive like fruit and biscotti (or likely whatever treats Peter has made) and then there is a whole separate room next door with a kitchen and laundry access. The special part, though, is that Peter prepares a whole little breakfast with delicious food he's made from scratch, including honey and eggs from his personal sources. Which brings us to Peter. He was just so friendly and helpful. He had lots of tips for what to see and do in Hobart and in Tasmania. I would 100% recommend booking here if you are looking for somewhere to stay in Hobart and don't absolutely need to be right in the centre. We also loved fluffy the cat, one of the neighbour's cats who hangs around the property.
