Room near the center with bathroom and kitchen

The host seemed nice although we only talked to him upon arrival. The WiFi was free and worked well. My friend and I were a little concerned about the location at first, but in the evening it was pretty quiet. The Grand Plaza is about 20 min away and the subway station is very close. We generally spent little time in the apartment, mostly just sleeping there.

The smell of some spices in the hall was pretty strong, the toilet also had this weird moldy scent. The fridge didn't work. The apartment wasn't soundproof at all, we could hear the next-door neighbor as if he was in the room. The apartment door seemed unrelieble and the lock was very questionable. When we came home I noticed several bites all over my body, most likely bed bug bites.

I will not repeat the descriptions of the property, its close location to the metro and buses and how easy it is to get the key even without meeting the host, which are mostly correct. I just want to put some of the complaints in a different perspective: You should look at this property as staying overnight at a friend's place or at your grandmother's. They put you in the attic room, lay you on a (comfortable) extended couch and give you an opportunity to shower, wash, go to the toilet and all this in a private setting. Yes, there are things that lie around in the hallway outside the room, some old furniture and some things are not totally fixed, but you get all you need for a good night's rest. And this is what matters - at least to me: The Wifi worked, I could charge my laptop and phone, the room and the shower water was warm and the couch-bed was very comfortable. Oh, and the neighbourhood was totally safe. Maybe not the newest buildings, but pretty normal for Brussels, nothing was run down. I came in the late afternoon, went out for dinner downtown at night, left in the early morning and all was quiet and nothing remotely suspicious was to be seen. BTW: the LED strips in the stairway are a nice touch.

Obviously, lot's of things could have been better, but I didn't expect any of them for this price. The fridge didn't work, or at least I didn't figure out how to switch it on, but I didn't need it anyway, so I didn't try hard. I should have checked whether it's plugged in, which I didn't.

Good location and a very responsive host. Easy to collect the keys.

It was a little difficult to find the room when we got into the building. I couldn't figue out how to get hot water either.
