Room near the center with bathroom and kitchen

Location is only redeeming quality. Metro station is right next to it.

Where do I start? I guess first thing to know to understand this review is what I expect for „small” price. I expect a place to be clean and to have advertised features. Thats it. I dont need a tv, big room, new furniture, a view etc. What I need is not to gag when: (i) I enter the building/ room (omg, the smell cant be even described but its from cooking probably), (ii) I smell towels (smelled wet if you know what I mean plus there was 2 of us and we got 1 bigger and 2 small towels) or bed sheets (smell similar to towels) (iii) I use the bathroom or shower (mold and stink) (iv) I look at the kitchen (we didn’t use it) - dont advertise that there is a kitchen and a place to store food when you have broken and disgusting fridge! Throw it out! I wanted a kitchen to make dinners but i couldnt use it. In addition: window in the „kitchen” was extremaly dirty, dirty floor, Christmas decorations which look like they stand there all year. Its a very small place. It would take probably 30 min max to mop the floor, hoover, clean the windows and sinks and other stuff, yet nothing was done. I would be ashamed to let people in for free let alone for money.

Host was very helpful & pleasant. Excellent location away from the city centre but right next to the Metro making access around Belgium very easy. Lidl just up the room for stocking up on essentials which was very convenient.

Room is in need of some attention which would greatly improve the overall experience (See Pictures).

We were shocked on our arrival when we saw the place. The lock on the door isn’t properly installed (see picture) and does not open/close easily. This does not make you feel safe. The door of the room to the staircase shakes with every breeze. The room was obviously not cleaned. The mat in front of the shower is a dirty/used floor cloth (see picture). The bedding did not appear fresh and smelled (however this might come from the old and obviously used couch, which serves as bed - see attached picture). The kitchen is not fully equipped by far (1 pot and 1 pan, both greasy and dirty). The old fridge is yellow inside, you don’t want to put food in it. The underside of the hotplate lies free, which might also be a fire hazard. The window is in need of renovation, the masonry lies open and is sort of covered up by parts of the radiator (see pictures). Apart from that, the furniture on the host’s pictures do not match the actual furniture in the room, e.g., the dresser by the door is missing and the little one by the bed is replaced by an old one. We left the place immediately and booked another accommodation. (Finally, when leaving the house, the door knob popped out of the door and we had to put it back in, in order to leave.) We still cannot believe how this place got an overall rating of 7.5 by previous ratings!

Excellent room. Spacious. Centrally located. Nearby to main metro stop. Enough light. Quiet. Basic facilities are perfect. Host was very pleasant and helpful. The city itself is very lovely with the people and their attitude. Enjoyed the stay. If visiting again, would definitely stay here.

Just to fill the box, I would say, the stairs and no lift.

Good communication with host and his mother who was in the building and allowed me access to the room, which is an attic room on the 2nd and top floor of the building. The stairs were fairly narrow. The room was as in the pictures and had controllable heating and hot water to the shower. Comparing the price with a private space elsewhere in Brussels, I thought it offered very good value for money.

The area felt 'edgy' and during my walk from the midi train station I witnessed the police make an arrest in the street and there were several occasions when police cars were speeding down the roads. The building in which the room is located appears to house several different people and early in the evening there were loud voices and shouting which felt slightly threatening to me as a solo traveller. However it did quieten down later on in the evening. There are unfinished renovations going on in the building and in the room too although this did not cause me too much inconvenience. There was initially an issue with the WiFi but the host responded promptly and an 'extension' appeared which enabled a good connection thereafter.

We are be there like after 24 in the evening , and the host warmly welcomed us.the house is really lovely and location is convenient. The room has everything you need.

Maybe the sound, the toilet, hot water and temperature . there is a sound a little bit loud during night and we could not figure out where it comes from. The toilet is a little difficult to operate, hot water runs over after we take showers and the room temperatures is a little bit down, so we try to warm up by another shower but the hot water runs out as mentioned. Otherwise everything is perfect! But at this price it is ok to have some inconvenience.

The area is cozy and nice to spend the night. It is near the metro and tram services and at a very convenient place. The attic is beautiful and a perfect way to end the day after visiting all the places in Brussels. Recommended 10/10
