JOIVY Elegant Home at the Heart of the Royal Mile

Location is great for walking to tourist attractions Very pleasant interior/decor throughout. Clean & modern features. Two bedrooms - one with two single beds is good for families. Kitchen facilities good, washing machine very handy.

Front Bedroom requires black out blinds. The entry into the property from the street is very dirty and dark, not welcoming. Whilst we did not find the narrow, spiral stairs up to the property a problem it should be made clear to people booking. The Meter box at head level in the hall close to both bedrooms is a hazard. Master bedroom ensuite sliding door awkward to open & close - sticking.

Location was very good.

We would have preferred a personal touch when we wanted some info / clarity. Couldnt get any info on Whats App...mainly the collection and dropping of keys was not suitable to us. Would have preferred to have someone at the appartement. Also the stairway upto the appartement was very dirty so pur welcome at the apartment was not very pleasant ( considering the amount we had spent)

It was a great location

The stairs were brutal. Narrow spiral taking luggage up and down. Truly a private residence, no one to assist. I would not recommend for guest with ANY physical limitations.

The location is amazing. The heated floors in the bathroom were phenomenal. And overall esthetic of the place was lovely. The staff was very quick to answer any questions we had.

The heaters in the kitchen/living room areas didn't seem to work. We constantly played with them and it was always freezing in that section. The windows weren't insulated well either, so a lot of noise came through. Lastly, finding the place was a bit difficult. My GPS kept bringing us right around the corner. I think having a bit more details on where it's located and which apt it actually is could avoid confusion

Location,location,location!

2nd bedroom small and very hot- (boiler housed in cupboard in there!)difficult to open windows,and tbh you wouldn’t want to open them if you could- really dirty /grimy,inaccesible rear area to the apartment ,windows filthy on outside of small bedroom no.2.,and rubbish there too.(we just drew the blind down and shut it out!)Stairwell/stone staircase to apartment dirty,with papers and letters scattered on bottom steps/stairs footwell (junk mail )!!So, that was tge disappointment but apartment itself clean -hairs and stains on mattress protectors to beds -but sheets /bed linen /towels pristine and beds comfy ! Smell of cigarette smoke on the stairwell from smokers in pub underneath apartment who congregate around outside door to the property-but didn’t infiltrate the apartment,thankfully.

Location was perfect. Whole set up of getting key was easy, no hassle whatsoever. Perfect for our family of 4 including 2 teenagers of 14 & 13 with two single beds, which I found hard to get elsewhere most had a double bed in the second room & 2 bathrooms. Bed linen was hotel quality. Had the likes of tea coffee sugar salt, dishwasher tabs cleaning product & shampoo & body wash all supplied. Although I had brought my own I had previously emailed to check but was told it was a self catering unit to bring your own. Had a washer with a quick 30 minute cycle and items dried on rads in no time. No need to use wash dry cycle which took 4 hours. You could hear traffic from the street but it didn’t bother us or keep us awake at night. Heating system was on a timer but you could boost it so it was lovely warm & cosy the whole stay. I’d highly recommend this property.

The stair way up from the main door from the street up to the 1st floor was dirty & grubby it could do with painting & cleaning on a daily or even weekly basis. There was junk mail littered inside the door that was there a long time just getting walked on. The main living area near the windows was very drafty, but we rectified this by boosting the heating and lowering the rads throughout the remainder of the property so it wasn’t as noticeable or as cold. It could do with the addition of a microwave tho !

We had to walk at least 30 mins for the keys. Location wasn’t accurate too.

The location was perfect. It was a perfect place to stay in Edinburgh, right on the Royal Mile. The flat was clean with a very nice layout.
