It can be difficult to sleep as you can hear traffic from outside. On weekdays the big boats in the harbour sound their fog horns very loudly between 7-8am and you WILL wake up, because they are incredibly loud.

It was situated close to the port to catch the ferry to Yakushima.

It was a bit far from the city center although still it was still within walking distance.

I absolutely loved staying at Gracias for 3 nights, the location honestly couldn't be better with easy access to the port to visit Sakurajima and I wonderful view of Sakurajima itself, not only that it has very easy access to both the airport bus (8 minutes walk) and Tenmonkan entertainment area (8 minutes walk) The apartment itself, small but perfect, enough room for two with good amenities included. I also loved the fact it has decent thick curtains something I haven't come across while travelling in Japan. My only criticism is that I found the bed slightly uncomfortable as I felt it was too soft and much prefer a harder bed.

I found the bed was personally too soft.

We had a corner room on the top floor with fantastic view of the volcano. Spacious for Japanese standards apartment, very clean and well equipped. Very nice host, we greatly enjoyed our stay
