The Outhouse - Ground Floor Studio

Spotless, underfloor heating so nice and cozy, and great with pets. The wet room has a lovely, strong hot shower, which was awesome. Sarah was on the end of a phone locally if needed, but everything was provided. Roof windows with electric blinds were a nice touch, as was having a sofa and kitchen. Unlike a hotel, I could put our snacks in and cook. I will be staying again and highly recommend.

The wet room - flooded entire floor...

It had all the mod cons in under floor heating and air con

No freezer for ice cubes. The flight path to the airport is directly overhead which meant planes all the time. However not a massive problem.

Location once we found it. Everything needed was there, including complimentary tea and coffee which I forgot!

Slippy wet room with no grab handles. Water didn’t drain easily after a shower. The opposite for the wash basin in the wet room, which drained almost immediately if trying to wash, no matter how hard you pushed the plug down. Small issues though. They didn’t deter from a good stay.

Clean and cosy

We loved our 2 night stay at The Outhouse. It was cosy, clean and comfortable. Air conditioning & underfloor heating were a bonus. Sarah was quick to respond to messages before and during our stay and entrance to the property was easy using a keypad code. Sarah was kind enough to let us extend our check out time by 2 hours. We had everything we needed in the property. The property was quiet and comfortable with parking close by was easy. It was a 10 minute walk down the lane/hill to Melbourne Pool which I'd thoroughly recommend. We saw swans, ducks, geese, moorhens, beautiful blue damselflies and dragonflies. We had drinks and pizza at The Brewhouse on our way back and sat outside in the buzzing court yard, (approx 10 mins walk from the property). On day 2 we ate at The Village Thai in the evening (about 15 mins walk from the property). There were also takeaways, a fish & chip shop, shops, pubs/microbreweries and other nice looking restaurants all within walking distance. During our short stay we visited Calke Abbey, 2 local reservoirs, Farrers Arts & Craft Centre (I recommend the delicious sour dough toasties with skin on French fries at Stables), and Stanton Harold Hall with its beautiful grounds, church and lakes. All of these places were within a 20 minute drive or less. We definitely would love to return again. It is a beautiful area and The Outhouse was great.

The wet room is fine so long as you remember to wear something on your feet if you go back into the bathroom after a shower. The underfloor heating helped dry it out quickly it should be noted.
