Haven Oaks - Self Contained Rural Lodge 1

Suited us perfectly for a short stay visiting family nearby. Bright, clean, everything fresh and new, and comfy. Loved having a bath with a rainforest shower too. Beautiful calm location looking over the meadow and woods, with lots of oak trees. No noise from the adjoining lodge. (Also, we never felt overlooked from the few houses to one side, as some previous reviewers have mentioned.) Owner communicated well and answered any queries we had promptly.

Only thing that could possibly be improved - doors to the fridge/freezer open the wrong way so a bit tricky using it as it is close to the wall.

Bedroom although a lovey size was narrow and It was very tight getting in and out of bed Fridge needed defrosting A pint of milk in the fridge would have been a lovely welcoming touch

We had a wonderful stay, really loved the beautiful surroundings and we will stay there again in the future.

Great location close to all good places. Quiet peaceful place. Loved watching the deer in the mornings

The location

The lodge we stayed in was extremely unclean, the ashtray outside was full of cigarette butts and water, the sofa was covered in stains, the skirting boards were covered in dust, some random bottles of toiletries that were almost completely used were left behind, I’m assuming they were from a previous guest, and the kitchen utensils were covered in dirt and food. We received an extremely passive message from the host 9 days after we had departed (which I’m assuming the lodge hadn’t been touched until the 9 days later) to explain to us that we were banned from booking again due to a few dishes in the sink (which were not cleaned as we used the small amount of washing up liquid that was in the bottom of the bottle provided) You also don’t get provided with a clean cloth/sponge/scrub daddy. They looked absolutely filthy when we got there, so avoided using those as obviously the previous guest had used them which is extremely unhygienic.
