The isolation was very rewarding “away from the maddening crowds”. Amazing views and many thanks to our hosts for a great stay.

"Great experience of staying on a farm, beautiful walks"

9.0

Beautiful views from the terrace, great experience staying on the working farm. We enjoyed the availability of fresh eggs, jams and baked goods from the farm. The walk to the beach was lovely, and the coastal path offered even more beautiful views and direct contact with livestock (real highlight for city folk like us). The lodge offers quite a lot of storage, beds are comfy and the living room area is spacious. We've enjoyed our stay, it was excellent value for money.

The only thing that comes to mind is maybe reducing the amount of sugar and teas in your welcome pack to add basic condiments / salt & pepper instead - majority of the places we stayed in (that provided cooking facilities) had oil, salt and pepper available. Also a quick cobweb sweep and cleaning the main terrace window ahead of guests arrival could make the first impression even more spectacular.

"Stunning area"

9.0

Absolutely stunning views and endless walks. Extremely comfortable beds and very warm heating system. Owners more than happy to help with anything. Particularly enjoyed feeding the lambs on site. Everything we needed was there, although the fridge was a bit small for a family of 5, if we had of wanted to stay longer, we would of needed to buy things daily. Lovely decor inside the front room. Not far to surrounding beaches and shops/villages. Seaside villages are also stunning. Plenty of hiking routes around the area. We loved watching the sheep dog go down to work and the wildlife all around. The view overlooking Belfast was a very nice surprise too. I would advise people to take passports, sadly we didn't know day trips were available locally to Belfast and didn't take ours.

Unfortunately, we couldn't cook anything as the oven kept getting smoke filled and hob cooking set the alarms off. There was some old blood on and inside one of the draws that we had to clean up but everything else was spotless. The blinds on the patio doors were unsuited as opening and shutting them meant they kept getting caught on the door handle and coming down, you needed to pull them and guide them over at the same time. Roller blinds would be better. Our cot bed didn't fit in the room and we had to leave our toddler sleeping alone in the sitting room, we didn't bring our baby monitor as we didn't know so I'd advise people to do that.
