House in the Castle

Amazing location and atmosphere

While not quite a castle :-), this was such a cute house with an amazing terrace overlooking just a bit of Monemvasia town and the gorgeous blue sea! It’s located in a quiet part of town towards the back, yet with easy access. The hosts are super nice, caring and responsive and left us a delicious fruit basket on arrival!

As you can expect, a little narrow but we found it manageable.

The apartment is located on Monemvasia in the lower town. It is such a unique place to stay! The apartment was very nice with two bedrooms, a kitchen, an eating/sitting area with a small tv, a bathroom, and a patio. There are no cars allowed, so the host met us at the entrance gate to Monemvasia to help us with our luggage. We parked our car along the causeway. Water is not drinkable so the host provided bottled water. She also left us with fruit and a bottle of wine, which we really enjoyed. We spent our evenings on the patio, which overlooked the lower town and the water. It was beautiful. The town itself is very small but has several nice restaurants and shops. The streets are very narrow and rocky, and the paths between different levels of the buildings on the hill can be hard to navigate, but this led to the charm of the town. Both mornings we walked down a short path to a lighthouse to watch incredible sunrises. We went to different beaches on the mainland during the early part of the day because there are no beaches on Monemvasia itself. In the late afternoon/early evening we explored the abandoned fortress of the upper town and we stayed to see a beautiful sunset. Our host was wonderful. She provided us with recommendations for restaurants and beaches. She also met us at the end of our stay to help us cart our luggage back to our car.

Εξαιρετικο καταλυμα, σε πολυ ησυχη τοποθεσια στην καστροπολιτεια, με υπεροχη θεα! Η ιδιοκτητης υπεροχη, ευγενεστατη και εξυπηρετικη! Μας κατατοπισε και ενημερωσε για οτι θα μπορουσαμε να κανουμε στην περιοχη! Το συνιστουμε ανεπιφυλακτα!!!

Ολα ηταν υπεροχα, χωρις να εχουμε κατι αρνητικο να σχολιασουμε!!
