Eastbrook River Self Catering Cottages

The view was absolutely beautiful.

The place did not meet my expectations — the reality was quite different from the photos. It felt more like a campsite than a proper accommodation. I believe it may be more suitable for summer holidays.

It was a neat unit.

Knew the property from when I was a kid and we lived in the area. WOW how things have changed, and for the better. Just loved how the lawn runs down to the dam on site. The river is a short walk from the apartment and we found the lawn there was also well kept with seating and picnic areas. You can swim and braai there, fish or whatever your heart desires.

Only gripe we had, was the basins in the bathroom. I am tall at 1.87m and the basins was too high even for me. Being in construction I know the basin should be mounted around 900mm-1m from the floor. That change will make a HUGE difference.

The property was clean, had full amenities, peaceful and the nature was amazing!!!

I was completely happy and I will return.

Quiet, peaceful surroundings. Beautiful bird sounds. Close to many beaches. Loved the cycling roads.

Nothing, we enjoyed it

Upon arrival, we had no idea where to park or collect the keys. Communication said to collect the keys at reception - there is no indication where the reception is. When we found the host, she was friendly and welcoming.

It was a very hot day when we arrived. Our room was só hot, thankfully we had a roof fan... it didn't work 😕 we asked Vee to please assist in helping to put the fan on. The battery of the remote was flat. She placed another flat battery into the remote. Eventually, my husband took our home remote battery and got the fan working. Vee also brought her own fan in the interim. The amount of spiders of all variants were absolutely shocking 😲 We travelled with our son of 7 years and our 8 month old baby - I hardly slept due to all the spiders in that room. Each morning when you walk outside, you walk through spider webs - no jokes! We paid R5000 extra when we booked, requesting a 2 bedroom unit. We were placed in a bachelor open plan unit - a family of four. We left a day earlier, we could not stay a day longer.

Peaceful and beautiful location. Some other reviews miss the point of staying here. No TV but instead enjoy being surrounded by nature, create your own entertainment. I didn’t miss an electric blanket as there are plenty of thick blankets. Overall it’s well appointed for the cost per night? has access to the river and extensive grounds to explore.
