Kirala Villa

Really magical neighbourhood with lots of flaura and fauna. The host family prepared excellent homemade food for breakfast. They also happily drove us around in their tuk tuk. The balcony was lovely.

Occasionally a bad smell in the bathroom due to plumbing issues (unfortunately probably very difficult to fix). There was a window so it was ok.

The owners son was waiting on the main road to meet me to guide me to the accommodation. The family was very warm and accommodating.

Really lovely host family, made us so welcome. Spacious upper apartment with balcony. Location amazing next to turtle beach - guaranteed sightings.

Trains are very noisy but they don’t run after 9pm (start again fairly early in the morning).

Our stay at this guesthouse was absolutely wonderful! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a welcoming papaya juice. The hosts are incredibly kind and attentive. The room was clean, spacious, and thoughtfully furnished. We loved having a fully equipped kitchen and fridge; the washing machine was a great convenience. Just a 5-minute walk to the beach, shops and cafes! If you’re looking for a cozy, well-equipped, and ideally located place to stay, I highly recommend this guesthouse!

Niroshin and his family were exceptional hosts—such a warm, welcoming, and kind-hearted family! They went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. No request was too big or small for them, and their hospitality made us feel right at home. The welcome drinks upon arrival were a lovely touch, setting the tone for a relaxing stay. We also had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious hoppa breakfast, which was not only tasty but also great value, served right to our private balcony with stunning views of vibrant birds, monkeys, and lush greenery. To make things even more convenient, Niroshin kindly provided us with 5L bottles of drinking water on request, saving us the hassle of carrying it around in the heat. The studio apartment was spacious and clean and contained a washing machine and hob which we found useful having travelled around. It also had air conditioning and a big ceiling fan keeping the place nice and cool as well as a mosquito net. The private balcony provided us with a lovely, relaxing sitting area where we could relax or eat and also had a nice, big ceiling fan allowing you to enjoy sitting outside whilst staying cool. As for the location, it couldn’t be better—just a short walk across the road, and we were on the beach, where we could swim in the ocean or the tranquil lagoon, home to turtles and colorful fish. The lagoon is sheltered by a reef, making it perfect for relaxing swims or for families with children. Plus, there are some lovely places nearby to eat and drink. This hidden gem is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Unawatuna, offering a peaceful retreat while still being super accessible via local buses, tuk-tuks, or even by foot if you're in the mood for a walk. Though the train passes right outside the house, it didn’t run late into the night, and we actually found the sound to be a charming addition to the overall experience.

What a beautiful villa! The main room is spacious, with a very comfortable 4 poster bed (with mosquito net). There is a great A/C unit and fan that cools down the room easily. The bathroom has a hot water shower (hand held shower head) and also includes a washing machine which is very easy to use. The kitchenette has a 2 burner gas stove, kettle, rice cooker and all plates and glasses. The balcony is complete with a fan, several seating options (table and chair, lounge chair and reading chair) and is also very spacious. The walk to the beach is only 2mins across the railway. The hosts are very accomodating and always there to help with any questions you might have. Would definitely recommend staying here if you get the chance!

Great place to stay just across the road of the famous Turtles Beach. We have met a very nice family and we are just waiting to be back. We had the ground floor apartment with a very nice veranda and a private garden to cool down after a day at the beach. Highly recommend!

Such friendly host and family. They are always available to help and nothing is too much for them. They ironed my new suit for a wedding, including taking it to Unawutuna and back for me for a special dry clean after the wedding. Every day they provided breakfast to my balcony, (only extra 1200 SL rupees). Great location a few minutes walk to Dalawella beach and beach bars. Convenience shops just a few minutes walk away. The villa itself was very well equipped kitchenette. Comfortable 4- poster bed with mosquito net. Good size fridge, great shower pump, toilet with butt gun which is always useful. Towels and soap in room. They lent me their mask for swimmming and a beach towel. On the last night they even cooked me some mixed rices.

The villa is a perfect place to stay away from the noise as it is located among dense trees. At the same time it is only a 5-minute walk to the Turtle beach. There is a balcony where we really enjoyed relaxing in the morning. The room comes fully furnished. There is everything you need: an air conditioner, a washing machine, a fridge. The bathroom is neat and clean. Also, there is a kitchen where you can really cook as there is everything for it. The owner and his family are very hospitable and friendly. They are always ready to help you. I strongly recommend this villa! Thank you a bunch!

This place has a beautiful atmosphere created by the family that own it. Mother, father, son, grandmother and grandfather live next door to the villa. I was made to feel welcome. The interior is very nicely done, with a big bathroom and a good sized kitchen. The outside space is beautiful with a wonderful garden. The WiFi is great, I was able to stream a whole football match with no problems.
