"Lovely weekend, it’s a lovely caravan but needs a good deodorising."

8.0

The property was clean, amazing view of the sea and lighthouse. The property was very clean. The lights and heating had been put on for us as we did not arrive till after 6, I thought that was a nice touch.

We struggled to get in, the key store must have been broken as the patio door was unlocked and the key had been left on the bench. When we opened the door the smell of wet dog hit us, it was awful. The sofa was not very clean and was stinking. The main bedroom also smelled of wet dogs. The bathroom radiator was leaking and the floor was soaking. One of the bedrooms did not have a handle on, so if you closed it and were inside the bedroom you would have been locked in. The caravan was just a couple of metres from the play park, this did not bother us at all, but the height of summer it could be noisy. The entertainment was right next to us again the music from there didn’t bother us but it was loud.

"A few issues with the arrival and cleanliness, but it fulfilled our needs for a 1-night stay."

4.0

It is located with lovely views across the bay to the light house. It is within walking distance to Whitley Bay town centre. The host was easy to contact and seemed nice enough.

Despite us updating our ETA to 16:00-17:00 (from 15:00-16:00) and arriving around 16:45, the property wasn't ready for us and was still being cleaned. I am not sure if it was the owner we met, but they were nice enough and we were already late to meet some friends in town, so we simply had a quick tour, put some items in the fridge freezer, grabbed the keys, and shot off. When we returned later around 20:00, the property was mostly clean, but you could see it had been rushed and ultimately not up to a good standard of cleanliness. The bin was overflowing, plasters on the floor, dirty dish rags left, wet towel.

"Lovely place to stay but perhaps not really set up for winter."

5.0

Location was fabulous, views were amazing. Finding and parking by the caravan easy. In the summer or warmer weather this would be lovely.

Heating didn't work properly and we were cold. Not all the radiators worked Fire didn't work as a heater. One morning no water due to frozen pipes and no instructions in caravan as to what to do if a problem occurred. Couldn't find caravan park staff that early in the morning. Caravan wasn't ready when we arrived and we had to leave again and return later. Wet towels left on the sink and cobwebs everywhere but I do know that the normal cleaning staff were not available due to the holidays.

The position of the caravan was next to the play park and near the club house so very convenient for amenities. Beautiful sea view.

Stained carpets but being changed this month. The caravan needs a general refurbishment, and clean. could easily be a Very special place to stay. Paving slabs from the carpark would help to prevent mud being carried up to the caravans.

The location was excellent

This was by far the worst experience I have had with Booking.com. We only received the key code about 30 mins before we arrived. When we opened the key holder the key wasn't there and I had to ring the owner who then took over 30 mins to arrive When we eventually got in there was no heating, and no hot water.and no cooker I rang the owner again and a warden from the caravan park had to replace the gas bottles as they were both empty. It took another 40 mins to sort the heating. The caravan was freezing and as we had a disabled child he had to stay in the car until the caravan warmed up. The gas cooker has a faulty front ring, the switch is broken and remains on until moved away from the off switch. The steps up to the caravan had a gate which didn't close and the gate opens the wrong way so it covers the handrail and it means that there is nothing to stop anyone falling off the steps. Thete was very little in the way of cleaning , there was no washing up liquid, the clothes were old and not very clean, the dust pan had a hole in, we had one tea towel which was damp and not very clean. The electric fire didn't work, the radiator in the front bedroom was only luke warm as was the shower. The whole caravan felt unloved and not cared for. The staff at Park Dean are aware of the issues with the owner and I will be asking for a refund. I would not recommend this caravan to anyone.
