Soetvlei Cottage

If you're looking for a remote getaway far from the noise and busyness of the city, this is definitely the place for you! I loved how peaceful and quiet the area was, it was just what we needed to unwind. The cottage had everything we needed, making it easy to cater for ourselves. The dogs were so friendly, and the hosts were just as warm and welcoming. The fireplace was a great touch and kept us cosy during the chilly weather.

We really appreciated our stay and there were definitely things we enjoyed. The shower was just a little tricky when it came to getting the hot water right, and while the fireplace helped keep us warm, it did make the cottage a bit smoky at times. A gas heater or something similar might be a great addition, especially for those chilly days.

The location was absolutely stunning! We wanted to get out of the city to stargaze and that is exactly what we got! Beautiful stars and a view of the Milky Way. The property is chalet is private, with a lovely little pond to swim in and cool down in. The hiking trail is ideal to get a beautiful view of the surrounding areas. Our hosts were amazingly friendly people as well.

The firewood they sold us was a bit wet, so we really struggled to get the fire going, and there wasn't any dish soap at the property, even though they said there would be on the description, but other than that it was idyllic!

Privacy and attention to detail

The peace and tranquillity. The isolation from the modern world as there is no TV which is great. The farm is quiet with few people around. The birdlife is great and the stars at night brilliant.

The low bed. My wife is over 6ft and the low bed was a problem.
