On 21st November 2025, Lift in Tower 2, Jesselton Quay, Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, was broken from 7.45 am and was still broken after I checked out at 10.00 am. At 7.45am, dressed in my Pajama, not carrying my mobile phone, I took a lift from the 23rd Floor (restricted Floor) down to 3Ard Floor (restricted Floor) to pick things from my car in the car park. At 7.50am I tried to take the lift at 3Ard Floor back to 23rd Floor, and despite tapping the sensor pad multiple times with my Access Card it announced, “sorry this is a Restricted Floor”. I went down to the Ground Floor and found a crowd, many kids soaking wet in their towels after getting out of the 7th Floor (Restricted Floor) swimming pool and unable to go back up to their apartments. Two Security Guards were buzy on their phone, unable to give the waiting crowd any directions. It was sweltering hot in the lift waiting areas and getting hotter by the minute. The two guards disappeared after 10 minutes as the sun rises. At 8.00am, I went to the office of the Rental Company Homesuites on the 3-53 Floor (they rented me my Apartment in Tower 2,Floor 23, Apt 07 via Booking.com) and found their office still closed at 8.00 am. Next to their office was Jesselton Quay Central Office, a kind lady listened to me and accompanied me to go check the lifts and even loan me her phone to email my family ( I did not have my mobile phone with me). She made calls and told me to wait in the Ground Floor lobby and then she too disappeared. I and the very lost crowd continued and tried and tried and tried testing the 4 lifts, going up to 32nd Floor (non-restricted floor) and coming down to try to access our floors without success always ending up on the Ground Floor in the en

Easy check-in. Great communication with host. Good value for money. Loved the beautiful ocean view. Comfortable queen bed in master bedroom. Comfortable white bed linen. Nice towels.

Be ready for kids in the swimming pool to wake you up at 7AM. Noise may drag on for hours. The building should enforce quiet hours. Apartment isn’t soundproof. You’ll hear neighbors from the unit above slamming doors day & night. The apartment is a bit dated. Visible leaks on walls. The shower needs a makeover. Walls need re-painting. I’d provide more utensils, at least one regular kitchen knife & a few thin pillows. The AC unit in the master bedroom didn’t work properly. I used the fan instead. AC unit in living room worked.

Nice ocean view. Comfortable mattress and bed linen. Close to the beach.

Kids in the swimming pool will wake you up at 7am. Noise may drag on for hours. You will hear your upstairs neighbors slam doors & make noise until late at night. Unit is dated. Visible leaks on walls. Shower needs a makeover. More kitchen utensils needed, including one regular knife. AC unit in master bedroom didn’t work. I used the fan instead. AC unit in living room worked. Overall, good value for money.

The host allowed me to store my luggage for 4 days.

If a bread toaster were provided, that would be nicer.
