"Beautiful and Peaceful"

8.0

My wife and I stayed three nights in the Vitoria Room, which is on the top floor of a set of apartments at the back of the property. The room itself is gorgeous, with plenty of space and lots of period furniture. It's worth noting that the bathroom is located across the hall, but there were no other guests on our floor during the stay, so we had the communal kitchen and lounge areas to ourselves. The property also doesn't have A/C, which didn't bother us because keeping the windows open allowed the cool Azorean night air to keep us comfortable. The owner, Margarida, is very warm and friendly, although we only saw her towards the end of our stay and the rest of the time were left in peace. We arrived late at night due to a delayed flight, and were grateful that Margarida's daughter stayed up late to let us in (I had called in advance). The WiFi in our room worked well enough for email/social media, and there was a light breakfast of bread, jam and bananas laid out each morning in the common area. The guesthouse has some off-street parking nearby, although I was able to find (free) street parking right outside for each of the nights we were there. The guesthouse is very conveniently located, being a few minutes' walk to the main shopping street, the waterfront, and some other bars/restaurants. In a town where accommodation prices seem to be rising, I thought Casa Vitoriana represented great value. It's not a modern hotel, so if A/C, modern fixtures, credit card payments and exclusive service are your thing, it might not be the place for you. But if you like the idea of a more traditional guesthouse, with the flexibility that requires, then we felt Casa Vitoriana was a great choice.

"Lovely and central accomodation"

10.0

I was on a 1 week solo trip in Sao Miguel and stayed at Casa Vitoriana in Ponta Delgada. Ihad booked the quaint Framboesa 1 bedroom apartment and was very satisfied. The kitchen had the basic items to prepare breakfast, the garden was beautiful, one of the many cats befriended me and waited for my return every afternoon. The owner Margarida helped me to feel welcomed and offered some of the delicious bananas growing in the large garden area. From here it was a short walk to grocery stores, the downtown area and the harbor. WiFi was available, but I had to connect close to the server and then the connection would carry into my apartment.

"Excellent place to stay in Ponta Delgada"

10.0

We stayed to nights in the room Vitoria. The room is amazing, the kind you find ins a 5* suite. The service is excellent and Margarida - the owner - is very nice and has lots of tips. Good value for money. An easy breakfast is included, you can even hang up your wet clothes in the terrace.

"Beautiful Apartment in Great Location"

8.0

We stayed in the garden apartment. The garden was beautiful with gorgeous friendly cats greeting us every morning. The apartment was as lovely as the pictures and the host was so friendly and helpful, she lives in the building so is always nearby and waited up for us though our flight was delayed. The location was really good, a short stroll to lots of bars and restaurants, the seafront and all the sights. The one negative was that you have to close all the shutters on the windows and doors if you're getting changed as there is a big window between the living and bedroom and a big mirror on the back wall! But it is a small price to pay for the extra feeling of space. We had a wonderful stay and will stay again.

"Nice stay in Ponta Delgada"

6.0

I went there for 2 nights as a solo traveller. I think the place is a good location but ... Typically European with the scent of incense and moth balls, no elevator, old (but charming!) furniture. I had the sense I was at somebody's house. The owner, Margarida, was really nice and welcoming and told me about the activities in town for my stay and how to get to the port, she even left me some bananas for breakfast even if it wasn't included. I think the price is a deal for the location! The negative things are: absence of parking and payment in cash only, which can make it difficult to make the reservation deposit. Otherwise, I would certainly recommend this place!

"Beautiful place near the heart of Ponta Delgada"

10.0

We rented one of the garden apartments for four nights. It's in quiet, lovely location. We were greeted by Margarida with a bowl of bananas from the property. The apartment is cozy, but provided everything we needed, including a small kitchen and indoor and outdoor seating areas. It has wide doors looking out on the lush gardens. The location is within walking distance to parks, restaurants, taxis and the harbor, and is even fairly close to a shopping mall. Wifi was iffy in the room, but worked fine out in the courtyard, which has plenty of covered seating. We had a 4PM departing flight, and since no one was checking in to our apartment that night, they let us keep the room without charge until we needed to leave for the airport, which was very nice. Ponta Delgada itself is fairly centrally located on the island, such that using a taxi to take us to hiking trails or pick us up in the next town was still cheaper than renting a car.

"Excellant Accomodation"

8.0

We have just returned home ,we stayed here for a few days at the beginning of our holiday .This was in the bed and breakfast accommodation .this was so lovely and comfortable . Very stylish and clean . You had to get to the room up 2 flights of stairs , which for some people it could be a problem . We booked an apartment for our return to the island , this was only on a bed basis - the room was equally beautiful ,very comfortable . It had a small kitchenette ,complete with a fridge , kettle and toaster. So we were able to do our own breakfast . It was very well situated for sight seeing ect . There is a small supermarket very close by for supplies .Really enjoyed our stay and hope to return .

"Old-fashioned accommodation in the Azores' main city"

8.0

Based in an old Victorian building in Ponta Delgada, we first wondered whether it really was the right address - but the lady running the hotel was right there welcoming us. The house indeed has a historic air about itself and a beautiful garden with several cute cats living a nice life in it and on the patios. Our apartment made us feel like we almost were part of the family and part of one big apartment. Of course it was apart from the rest plus the door had curtains and could be locked. The interior of the apartment was just adorable in its splendor. We had a bathroom across the hall but complimentary comfy bathrobes, so that was fine.

"Wonderful stay in a lovely apartment"

10.0

It is difficult to find anything negative to say about this delightful place where the owner and her son played such a big part in making our ten day stay an absolute delight. We were greated by Jose Bernard in the absence of his mother and his helpfulness and enthusiasm were infectious. The numerous cats and his dog Dexter added a sense of family to the magical tropical garden. The constant appearance of fresh bananas and other fruit from the domestics was much appreciated. I became a regular at the neighbourhood shop and an equally near cash machine. We cooked quite complicated meals on the induction hob and enjoyed shopping for local ingredients. The house is 10 minutes walk from the town and ten minutes from the Atlantic plaza shopping centre with its sophisticated mall and large supermarket. Access to the later is through a botanic garden. When we return, and return we will to this magical island, it is inconcievable that we would want to stay anywhere else.

"Charming, Gracious and Spotlessly Clean"

10.0

We (mother, 92 and daughter, 66) stayed at Casa Vitoriana for approximately 10 days. It was our first stay, but it will not be our last - should we return to Ponta Delgada. We were received by our hostess with warmth and enthusiasm. We let her know when we were coming, on which flight, and when we would arrive with the taxi. It worked like a charm. The rooms are each individual and unique, appointed with old world and authentic artifacts, yet fresh and inviting. Many of the paintings, sculptures and other items are original and possibly ancestral. The rooms, bathrooms, hallways, lounge, breakfast room and garden area were all impeccably clean. (A few lovely little kitties, all calm and sweet from heartfelt care, but not a cat hair in site...except on them!) We stayed in three different rooms. (In between we stayed at different villages on the island.) Our favorite was the Vitoria Room. It looks out onto the garden in the inner courtyard and is extremely peaceful, spacious and regenerative. The room on the street side, Alfazema, was a bit noisy but in cooler weather, one can close the double-paned windows and hear not a sound. The room with kitchenette on the ground-floor, Nespera, had the best beds of all three rooms (for our idea of comfort). It was spacious and quiet, with a kitchenette. Like the Vitoria, it was a suite of two rooms. One has the option to take breakfast. We had scrambled eggs, wonderfully seasoned, delicately sautéed half tomatoes, cheese, yogurt, bread, coffee and a choice of cereals (which we did not take). Sometimes we had olives and a small salad with rucola. We could have had sautéed meat slices if we had wished. The location for us was perfect. We did not rent a car. We walked almost everywhere in the neighborhood and downtown as far as the central market. When it was further, we took a taxi and/or went by bus. I even took out a library card for the excellent library just about three or four blocks away. We met a lovely couple from Quebec who had stayed there on three different occasions. Should we return, which I sincerely hope we do, we shall stay again at Casa Vitoriana. It’s a special experience. It’s not a hotel. It’s a home that has been opened as a guest house. It has many modern amenities that make one’s stay comfortable and relaxing, yet it has not lost its authenticity and charm....just like our hostess! She is truly a delight.
