Thistle Lodge - Quiet Garden lodge with off road parking

Beautiful location, very quiet, stunning place to stay. The cabin in spacious and lovely to be in. Bed very comfortable, bathroom has huge walk in shower. Kitchen area was great, dining are and lounge area comfortable. Large TV which was a bonus. Lovely outside space to sit with morning coffee. Car parked on drive which felt secure and hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Milk, various teas and instant coffee and also fresh coffee, hot chocolate also. Fresh orange juice and a couple of beers in the fridge! Well thought out, well worth the money, will be staying again. 5*

It was an ideal location for why we were up there & had everything we needed. It was great that we could come & go as we pleased. Having milk etc in the fridge & snacks was a nice touch.

Unfortunately, we were really disappointed with the cleanliness of the lodge. I know it's not a 5* hotel but unfortunately there was toothpaste splatter on the bathroom mirror & dribbled down the front of the sink & cupboard. The kitchen sink had bits & coffee in & so did the draining board. The main room floor hadn't been hoovered very well so there was lots of bits on the floor including a shrivelled blueberry that wasn't ours. I went to retrieve a chocolate that I dropped & had rolled under the sofa but there was a lot of dirt under the sofa, it definitely hadn't been moved to be hoovered. The plastic tray with the shower gel etc in was really grubby & so was the extractor fan. The top of the toaster was covered in crumbs & there was food splatter up the splash back behind the sink. I assume the lodge is a little older now so doesn't quite match the photos which I understand & things like the shower, soap dispenser, plastic flowers could do with updating but we chose this place because it has really good reviews, including the cleanliness of it so this is why we were shocked to find this.

The lodge is amazing! A great little get away, ideal for us to get in to London on the train
