Brown Cow Cottage

The cottage was lovely. Really clean and homely. Great location for the zoo that we planned to visit. Very reasonably priced. Nice big secure car park. Lovely Christmas decorations in the cottage. A really nice personal touch. We would definitely stay again.

The pillows in the double bed were solid and frankly lumpy. Very uncomfortable. Annoyingly we realised in the morning that that pillows in the other room were lovely and fluffy!! Also the step in the kitchen really should be marked with tape or something. Fell down it twice .. bruised elbow and ankle.

Location

Great location in the heart of Dalton with a fully equipped kitchen, proper bathroom and decent sized shower. We had everything we needed and, of course, the Brown Cow pub serves excellent food and drink!

The mattresses are saggy and worn out. We've been complaining about this for years yet we were still sinking into the middle of the bed every night. Surely a decent night's sleep is one of the most important things to focus on with any accommodation? The prices have gone up since our last stay but the decor has somehow got worse!

Although not included, breakfast, lunch & dinner could be purchased in the attached bar/restaurant at reasonable charge.

There appeared to be no USB charging points and we did not have our own plug in one.

Very spacious accommodation. Dog friendly. We stayed on a chilly autumn night and the central heating was easy to work and very warm. Comfortable lounge with smart tv. Everything very clean. Good pub next door. We had evening meal there and enjoyed it. The pub and accommodation are tucked away in a picturesque quiet corner and the pub is not rowdy. We had no noise from the pub next door. Overall excellent.

Nothing really. Some of the furnishings are a bit dated, but as long as you can survive without a brand new kitchen, this is clean and comfortable dog friendly accommodation that is nicely placed for the south lakes. The staff are great and its super value for money.
