Quinta das Hortênsias

Breakfast area outside in an incredibly beautiful hortenisa garden. Flowers overload, just stunning. Very quiet, good kitchen, lots of food for breakfast provided for free, including the most incredible sweetpotatoe bread baked in the bakery of the Quinta furao hotel in Santana. What a service! We loved everything. Owner showed up a few times to ask if everything OK or anything needed. Also provided useful information on hikes etc. Great feeling in the place. Would definitely come back.

Atmospheric architecture. Incredible garden, calm village, view from the bed and apartment welcome gift, friendliness of the owner. We enjoyed cooking our own breakfast. One of our nicest Madeira stays.

You need a car. Lots of bees, Gotta be careful also with ants and unprotected food, nothing major

Beautiful location in, as yet, unspoiled, peaceful part of the island. Great garden, charming and quirky chalet-type apartment, decorated with love, all necessary facilities provided and more, generous gifts of food and beverages from host - useful if without a car. Very friendly host with helpful advice.

Bathroom perfectly clean and functional, but could do with an upgrade. Some traditional wicker furniture beautiful but not comfy.

Beautiful little boutique accommodation run by a family. The Host Viriato is very kind and thoughtful, and was attentive to anything we needed or asked about. The apartment we stayed at was well equipped had an equipped kitchen, and was very comfortable, with a beautiful view! We finished every day on the balcony enjoying the breathtaking views of the garden and the ocean. The breakfast included is in a nearby restaurant, and had a good variation of food and very kind staff.

The view from the apartment was stunning and the host was very friendly. Everything we needed was provided in the apartment. If we have a chance to go back to Madeira again, we would stay at this apartment again.

Nothing it was great for a week’s visit.

The apartment has the most gorgeous setting, among a beautiful garden overlooking the sea. Inside there was lots of original character and the kitchen was very well equipped. Super-friendly and responsive host.

It was a bit chilly inside while we were there, which we expected from an old, atmospheric house during rainy weather. Electric heater was provided though, as well as an air dehumidifier and plenty of blankets. On colder evenings when you can't sit outside it would have been nicer to have a more comfortable indoor sitting area/sofa.
