The room was spacious and parking was easy

We chose the hotel because we thought the deluxe suite would be comfortable with a baby. In the end it wasn’t well-equipped for what we wanted (for example there was no washing up liquid or mugs in kitchenette - we had to go downstairs multiple times to ask for basic things) and there was no heating in the bedroom, so we had to sleep with the bedroom door open which meant we were disturbed by the light in the morning (it was very cold when we stayed in April). Without going into too many details, the description of the room didn’t match what we experienced, and we had heated disagreements with the owner. She said the English description on the website was nothing to do with her and it was Booking.com’s responsibility. We were stunned because the reviews were so great and the price for the deluxe suite is definitely above average for the area. It was also very disappointing that the restaurant was closed, and we were only alerted last minute. The staff recommended another restaurant nearby, but that was closed too, so we ended up driving around looking for somewhere to eat with a tired baby. For the first time in many years of using Booking.com I made a complaint - and the hotel rejected my statement and refused to take responsibility. They have made some adjustments to the room description though. I was going to forget about it all but as they have taken no responsibility in the end I decided to leave an honest review.

Lovely little B&B perfect for an overnight stay right on the Portuguese border and close to the fort town of Almeida. The lady was so helpful and friendly. There's plenty of parking, the breakfasts (included in the price of the room) are amazing. Our room was clean, spacious, comfortable and dog friendly.
