The Farmstead

Sie ist speziell und gut gelegen. Die Einrichtung wäre gut, sie ist aber leider wenig gepflegt. ZB Liegestühle nicht benutzbar

Kleinschalig verblijf met een fijne tuin voor met jonge kinderen en prachtig uitzicht. Er is een natuurlijke speeltuin en zwembad. Locatie is heel goed, 10 min rijden naar centrum van Franschoek en ook Babylonstoren en Boschendal goed te bereiken.

Ich fand es insgesamt zu rudimentär und teilweise auch einfach nichtmehr sauber. Schimmelflecken am Boden, in Polsterauflagen, tropfende Duschhähne, der Pool ist auch nicht wirklich sauber..bei uns gab es auch kein Frühstückskorb, finde die Lage zu abgelegen um nichtmal Frühstück dort zu bekommen. Ich finde dass das Preis-Leistung-Verhältnis nicht stimmt.

We had no breakfast During our stay it rained heavily and the property is not accessible via the flooded bridge. In my opinion something should be done to avoid a massive detour and residents should be informed of this fact in advance.

Gas geyser did not work upon our arrival, we had cold showers until problem was resolved. Wood for the fireplace was wet and did not want to burn. It was cold and the fireplace is very handy if you supplied dry wood

We loved the welcome baskets, the outside bathroom and the extra water bottles to stay warm. The place was beautiful, clean and friendly. Worth every penny.

Just a few things I think needs a look at, the bathroom and main bedrooms curtains were too transparent, at night with a light on in bedroom/bathroom you could completely see in from the outside. Also the one light outside, we could not find the switch for and the curtains did not block out the light at night. The outside bathroom needs a bit of fixing on the gate, as I was having a bath and people could see in, made it a bit uncomfortable. Lastly, I think you need to warn guests about noises they can experiencing, both morning we were woken up at 7am because either you staff put on a generator or our Neighbours baby was crying.

Heel fijn ruim appartement wat lekker koel bleef ondanks het warme weer. De buitenruimte was erg fijn, inclusief de braai met mooi uitzicht over het weiland met koeien en ezels. Ondanks dat de appartementen direct aan elkaar zitten, een goed gevoel van privacy. Ook het zwembad was lekker en de trampoline voor de kinderen. Aanrader, vooral voor gezinnen!

Het personeel was vriendelijk, maar de service wat matig. Het ontvangst was minimaal (weinig en hele korte uitleg) en de kinderbedjes en stoelen waarover we diezelfde dag nog contact hadden gehad, waren bij aankomst niet aanwezig. De schoonmaak vond vaak pas helemaal aan het einde van de dag plaats, en was de ene dag grondiger dan de andere dag

I had a wonderful stay at The Farmstead. The accommodation is set in a truly beautiful location, offering a peaceful and scenic environment that immediately makes you feel at home. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, adding a personal touch that made the experience even more enjoyable. The finishes throughout the accommodation are stunning, that reflects both comfort and elegance. Getting there was also a breeze—the directions provided were clear and easy to follow, which made the arrival stress-free. Overall, The Farmstead combines charm, hospitality, and quality in a way that makes it a memorable place to stay. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.

There were, however, a few aspects that could be improved. As it is a working farm, there were quite a lot of flies, but unfortunately no insect spray was provided in the unit — I had to purchase some myself. The dustbin also had no black bags, so I had to use plastic shopping bags instead. More concerning was the vegetation fire in the surrounding area during our stay. The flames came close to the accommodation, and we saw nearby neighbors evacuating. We had to stop a passing car to get advice, which added significant stress to our Friday evening. Communication from the owners during this time was limited, and as guests unfamiliar with the area, we did not know the safest escape routes or whether our lives were in danger. While I understand the owner was focused on saving his farm, it would have been reassuring to receive proactive updates and guidance to ensure guest safety. We evacuated to Stellenbosch overnight and returned 13;30 but the lack of sleep and uncertainty made the experience unsettling. The owner’s response was that if we felt unsafe, we could make other accommodation plans at our own expense — which was disappointing given the cost of our stay (R17,000 for two nights). He later the Saturday offered us an extra night free of charge, which was appreciated, but unfortunately we could not take it up due to work commitments. The Farmstead has wonderful potential with its beautiful setting, finishes, and staff hospitality. However, guest safety and communication during emergencies need to be prioritized to ensure a truly stress-free and memorable stay.
