Quinta do Canto

I agree with everything that other guests said:.The place is quite unordinary and your stay will be memorable. I want to emphasize 3 points: - Your hostess (a charming old lady) will do everything to please you, up to the incredible delicacy of being very discreet or even invisible so as not to bother you (for preparing breakfast, cleaning the room, etc.) especially since she and her husband do not live on site (which will require you to coordinate with her for the arrival time, especially late) to the point that you feel almost alone in this large house. - Breakfast is exceptional because you'll have it at a common table with other guests, because the table and the buffet are set in the old-fashioned way, impeccably, among the antique furniture and trinkets of what was once a wealthy farmhouse and then a mansion and because the food is quite varied and of good quality (which is quite unusual in the Azores given that many fresh products are rare and expensive or imported from the continent). - Finally, what could be an inconvenience is actually an advantage: the "corner farm" (translation of Quinta do Canto) is about eight kilometers from the center of Horta by road (but 3.5 km by the magnificent paths) and a car is recommended (unfortunately in the island of Faial as in the others of the Azores apart from Terceira and Sao Miguel, it is impossible to count on any bus) and this can allow to select the type of guests and avoid indelicate or ill-mannered people

I was single and therefore had a small bedroom with a small single bed near the entrance door (and I had to keep the curtains of the window closed to protect my intimity. No big matter. Just that the mattress was antiquity, maybe the same age as the furniture around,.and not comfy...

Tasty breakfast, quiet location, affordable, very clean and nice staff.

Please serve breakfast from 7:30am. Check-in time extremely rigid and it should have been made clear that there was noone at the property to let me in outside of the agreed check in time.

Breakfast, general hospitality, staff friendliness, it was really really good. The care taker lady was really nice and very helpful at all the times. I recommend anyone to stay at quinta do canto. Also, the whole rustic environment, really takes you back to the past with all the modern commodities. Breakfast was straight forward, very regional with a nice little selection of jams and cheese, also scrambled eggs and sausage or bacon, overall it was simple but delicious, enough to start the day full of energy.

The only thing that could have been better was instead of having to go through the car parking area to enter the house, maybe I would advise using the check-in door. Aside from that, I can't think of any faults.

The breakfast is really good and they have a garage for the car.

The shower didn’t have a holder for the top part of the shower for the girls very difficult to was her hair. And they were too worried and made too much effort letting you know the place and its things (doors, floors etc) were too old and important, this made us feel we couldn’t touch anything and everything was dangerous and forbidden. They could relax a bit with that having into account it’s an accommodation for a couple days and try to make it more comfortable for people.

After staying in 2 hotels in Horta town before, this a bit more inland location struck me with its quiet rural atmosphere. Plenty of places to sit in the property's gardens - where the wifi is good !
