古民家の宿 ふるま家 Furumaya House Gastronomic Farmstay in Deep Kyoto

This was very nice to experience a real Japanese house and real Japanese food outside of a big city. Without a car one could get there with a train from Kyoto and a bus (only couple of times per day and not every day - so should be checked in advance).

The hosts, Sayaka and Nicolai, are fantastic and extremely hospitable. Sayaka is a great cook and we had sumptuous meals (dinner and breakfast) peppered with ingredients picked from their farm/garden. Love it!

Amazing place!! Such friendly hosts, we loved talking to them and they made us feel comfortable. Clearly very polished and thought out in the layout and facilities - the rooms were all beautiful, comfortable and private, even fresh flowers and so many books to choose from. The food really was incredibly special with generous portions, everything was delicious. The private onsen was our favourite. Beautiful room with a very large bath. Thank you so much!!

Incredibly gracious hosts and a very relaxing and serene spot in nature. They prepared an amazing dinner, at our request vegetarian for us although of course they do other stuff as well. A very pleasant selection of sake to go with the meal some very nice hikes in the area. Truly a beautiful pause.

Absolutely wonderful. The hosts are extremely kind people, the food is outstanding and the place itself is a perfect, relaxing break from the bustling Japanese cities. Thank you very much.
