Tsolmon's Serviced Apartments

When I arrived, my plane was a little late; I called the number provided and was told that it was too late to check-in and the reservation was then cancelled. I never saw the place and we spent 2 hours looking for an alternative hotel.

Three-room apartment with large rooms and high ceilings, separate semi-equipped kitchen.

1. Continuous noise day and night, kind of mechanical hum of unknown source, which was especially loud when you put your ear to the wall. I had problem falling asleep during my first night. It's shocking that the staff didn't know about it, and when I brought them to the room, they confirmed this noise but could not do anything. 2. Unequipped bathroom. Just towels and an old bar of soap. I had to buy everything else by myself. The face towels were in fact the same hard towels which you put to the floor after shower. 3. The shower itself was clogged and the shower head was leaking and spraying water. I learned that late in the evening, when the staff had already been gone and refused to come back to repair. So I had to do everything I could by myself, with my fingers. The shower door could not be tightly closed, so I had to take shower trying not to spill water through the slit. To me, this sort of negligence is just plain disrespect to the guests. 4. Lighting everywhere in the apartment was just bad. In bedrooms, you just had the very bright ceiling lamps — and nothing else. So, I just bought candles and lighted them in the evening to have some nice subdued lighting. 5. The floor was not very clear, and there were no slippers offered. Some shelves in the kitchen were dusty, had to clean them. 6. Very few sockets available everywhere in the apartment, and they were located in inconvenient spots. I had to buy socket repeaters to connect notebook, lamp, and phone chargers. Again, just plain negligence from the owners. 7. TV did not work. And in fact, the socket was sparking. I gave up trying to switch it on. 8. The breakfast was just poor. No options available, the breakfast is minimal and the same everyday (a small soup, fried eggs, slices of fat sausage, one slice of soft cheese, instant coffee, one bag of tea, one small cake) — and not really tasty.

I enjoyed every minute of my stay. The apartment is very central, large and comfortable, with cooking facilities, fridge, microwave, kettle, etc. Very quiet day and night. Entry with key card so very secure. The managers are wonderful people: friendly, informative, helpful, with good English. I was told in advance there may be no hot water because of summer repairs and given the option to cancel. In fact there was plenty of hot water. Best of all was the wonderful breakfast: abundant, tasty, varied, and healthy. The highlight of the day!

The apartment could be cleaner, especially in corners that don't seem to get swept regularly.

Tsolmon is a great host who welcomed us and ensured we could get into our room ahead of time after a long overnight flight. The room was very spacious, clean and well equipped. Tsolmon also catered very well for our vegan friend and bought special foods for his breakfast. Highly recommended and I have already recommended to my friends. The apartment is very accessible to the city centre and has 2 great shops on either side.

The only minor issue is that taxi drivers can find it difficult to find- but when they call Tsolmon he ensures they find the way.
