Corte Pomponazza

Airco broken. Host suggested opening the windows and putting on a little fan. I would have liked to know beforehand that it was broken.

Pretty much everything. Professional host, easy to find and very central location, spacious apartment in a historical building.

Incredible location, very convenient (and beautiful) private parking, spacious, clean, full kitchen, high pressure shower and very friendly host.

The WiFi connection was not great. Not a problem for us, but do have in mind that the apartment was on a second floor.

Excellent location in a beautiful old building, just by the lake. Very nice and helpful owner. Lots of nice places around, including restaurants (owner recommended us some nice spots), stores and sightseeing.

Wifi was a bit erratic, disconnecting us from time to time. Also very narrow entrance to the parking might be tricky for inexperienced drivers or if you have very wide car.

We were travelling by car and needed to get to our 'hotel', park up, unload and get out into the centre as soon as possible, This is where Corte Pomponazza scores. There's a private courtyard with 5 or 6 parking spaces, most of them used by appartment owners it seems. It's not secured, is in the open but it's far enough of the beaten track that your car is as safe as it's going to be. There is, of course, ample public parking which surrounds Mantua's city walls which I would use if I was in a less conspicuous car. The flat is on the second floor ...or at least the one we used. It's perfectly functional but it doesn't ooze charm or much warmth. It's clean and it does the job but it's not a place you'd want to linger in that much. Of course, that's not a problem because within a 5 minute walk you're in the centre of Mantua with a myriad of bars and restaurants.

'Sassoon' our proprietor wanted cash since he doesn't have the facility to take cards. That's not a massive problem but you should be aware of it, especially if you're staying a several nights. Nothing to do with Sassoon - who was charming and helpful - but if you're in the centre of town and see an advert for the 'Terrazza Bar' with a panoramic view of Mantua you'll need to access Gran San Lorenzo Hotel. We paid Euro 20 (no receipt) to access the bar and found there were no tables with a view. You could look at a wall but that's the same in any other bar. However, a 20 euro admission fee seemed...well....cheeky. We came straight back down and after 30 minutes of wrangling finally got out money back. What great PR..... Otherwise, Corte Pomponazza, Sassoon and the rest of Mantua were very good.

The location just a few hundred metres from the historic centre of Mantova was fantastic, the host was extremely helpful and carried the luggage up and down the flights of stairs, the views over the lake were wonderful. Everything was very clean and nicely presented. Would defintiely recommend and would stay again.

We had trouble connecting to the WiFi but that doesn't detract from this excellent apartment. The rooms would work well for a family but for three people it was a bit odd to walk through one bedroom to get to the other or the kitchen.

The apartment has a great location which allowed us to take three walks around the old city within less than 24 hours. The host is open and friendly: he navigated us to the place, provided a parking lot, recommended us a decent austeria and much more.

I liked everything.

Location is great, you can get there by car without any problems because even if that is a limited traffic zone, there are no cameras there if you came from north-east. Apartment is big, with lots of rooms, kitchen, air conditioner, and the host was very nice to us, waited for us, helped us with the luggages, gave us 4 bottles of water. There was free parking in the courtyard. Good ratio price/quality.
