the apartments was large and fully furnished

I was given 1 tissue paper for a 3 night stay, this was extremely shocking. When I requested the staff for 1 more they completely refused. I was also given 1 soap for the entire 3 night stay, which was also shocking, when I asked staff for one more they refused.

We loved the staff, especially the security guard. They were very kind and welcoming. The cutlery was very useful when we ordered food. The hot shower was great The bed was comfortable The front patio was really amazing

The floors weren't cleaned when we got there, so there was alot of dust. We also didn't like how dirty and mouldy the couch was, since you had to cover it with a sheet. There was a dead cockroach on the floor in the bedroom 😅 The TV didn't work, and the candles too don't have a wick to lit it. There was no beverage accomodations, things like coffee sachets, sugar, and stuff like that to feel invited

Cleanliness was horrible. Room was smelling damp. dirty kettle. Old school tv. Water for showering was warm. Great property but needs to be modernised.

We chose the place as it is located in the Nairobi Westlands, a central location in the city plus we had a one night rollover before leaving to Mombasa. For a family of four, we paid USD 126 for two nights (no breakfast or anything else) through booking.com (Aug 2024) The place is well guarded with wire fencing and guards all around (just like other apartments / motels in this area). From inside, it is a congested mesh of buildings, more like a maze if you don't know your way around. It had a really spooky feel to it as it seemed we were the only ones living inside the huge place / no other person was seen around and no other noise was heard, despite the fact that their rooms & buildings are not sound proof at all (FACT: We could hear the security guard talking on phone from our room) >> POSITIVES - not many to be honest << (+) Due to its location, you can easily commute around the city center, if you feel safe doing that / TIP: Don't hire a local cab rather go for Uber / Bolt as the habit of overcharging tourists is prevalent, with no remorse & accountability in Nairobi

>> NEGATIVES > I will start off with negatives as not many positives are there to mention frankly (-) After stepping inside the apartment, you feel as if you've time travelled back to the 90s. The infrastructure is quite old and shabby, with the owner showing no concern of upkeep & cleanliness. The L-shaped sofa in the lounge looked dirty with stains on it. The dining table had creaking chairs. The kitchenette had ancient appliances which worked partially well. We decided to avoid using cutlery & crockery for they looked used & abused. The electric kettle's heating iron was rusted and seemed as if it hadn't been cleaned in ages (-) No reception or administration exists inside the place. We were moved directly into our apartment after crossing the gate. (-) The Fun didn't stop there. We were told there is free wi-fi and TV inside the apartment, only to find nothing really worked. The wi-fi did not work along with the LED TV which was malfunctioning. After 3 hours of repeated calls and people visiting our apartment, we decided to give up and learn to enjoy life without internet & TV (though kids did not agree with this notion) (-) Possibly due to cost cutting measures, the only person managing the entire place was a security guard who had no clue at all of how TV and internet work. 2-3 people kept coming to our apartment, spending many minutes checking devices which showed they had no experience or idea how to fix such basic things (-) The bathroom (only one for a two bedroom apartment) wreaked and smelt badly. The white tiles inside were quite dirty. After having once glance into the bath tub, we decided not get inside as it hadn't been serviced since a long time (-) Beds were small and quite uncomfortable, with cracks and sounds coming out of them every time you moved on them during the night. Sleep quality is quite awful.

Rooms were completely NOT as advertised. We had to find last minute accommodations elsewhere because there was no way we would stay here. Dirty sheets, ants in kitchen, no shower curtain, we had to request toilet paper, dirty towel, safe did not work, stained couches. On site staff called management and neither were understanding/willing to refund. We were told we were able to cancel up to two days before check in, which is ridiculous because how were we to know the state of the rooms. We have contacted booking.com to request refund and are waiting for property to respond. Would leave 0 rating if possible.
