Pension Post Rüdesheim

The actual Pension Post Hotel, which we booked, was lovely. Excellent location, and a nice traditional pension right next to Drosselgasse. After the initial booking stuff around, the staff opened the hotel just for us and were very accommodating despite the hotel being in fact closed for winter.

This hotel was actually closed for winter however they were still taking bookings on this platform! We got a message whilst we were on our way there on the train saying that we would need to check in at a DIFFERENT hotel. This was 20 minutes walk across town so we headed there on foot with our luggage - very inconvenient. We were not impressed by the alternative they were offering us and insisted that we booked Pension Post specifically for its location close to the train and right next to Drosselgasse. I said we would just cancel since they were not supplying what we booked and go to a different accommodation (one that WAS open) back where we needed to be but they absolutely did NOT want to lose the booking. In the end they agreed to open the Pension Post just for us and brought breakfast to the hotel each morning, so it all sort of worked out. They did go to a lot of trouble to follow through with our booking but I cannot feel sorry for them since they created the problem by taking bookings for a hotel that was definitely NOT open!

The view of the Rhine from my window was beautiful, spoilt by the road/rail works that was disruptive but that could not be put down to the hotel.

On Saturday 9th August 2025 when I arrived at Hotel Post it was closed! A note on the hotel door informed me that Reception was at the Hotel Rheinstein, 150mtrs away. Hotel Rheinstein was where I was to have breakfast! I was eventually moved on the 15th August to Hotel Rheinstein as the promised WiFi was unavailable at Hotel Post! My room was regularly serviced at the Post (not daily), however, my room at the Rheinstein was rarely serviced! On the 18th I requested the broken vanity light be replaced, and I asked when my room was to be serviced? So bed was roughly tidied, towels changed, and bin emptied!. On the 22nd I asked reception when my room will be serviced as it hadn’t been done since 18th and the bedding had not been changed since moving in! The receptionist argued his colleague had cleaned my room the day before, I assured him that I knew if/when my room had been cleaned, or the bins emptied, the towels changed and my bed made and the bedding changed! When I got back to my room that day it had been properly serviced! The room was overprice as it was very small single room, with little or no facilities, no fridge, no kettle to make tea/coffee, no WiFi, no air conditioning (a fan was provided) no hotel staff after 9pm and none at all at the Post, no dining room and having to go to another hotel for breakfast, inadequate room servicing. On two occasions I was locked out of the Rheinstein Hotel and one of the guest let me in, he told me I had a key that would get me into to the night door! I had not been informed of this! When I asked reception they told me the restaurant closed at 9pm and I could get in through the night door on a narrow street at the back of the hotel, as a senior lady I was very nervous doing this! Getting back before 9pm spoilt my time in Rudesheim! I have attached a picture comparing my room to the size of the other rooms!

Location Good. Room OK once we were moved. No breakfast on site.

No Reception, No Breakfast room, No free WiFi and the hotel should be manned. Entry from side street or garage was left open during the day and anyone could have walked in as it was un-manned. Obviously being refurbished.

Lage ist perfekt 🤩 Man kommt überall schnell hin und ist mitten im Geschehen. Das Zimmer war groß und sauber.

Das Zimmer war eiskalt als wir es betraten und im Bad gab es kein Warmwasser…eher ungünstig im Dezember 😅 Etwas umständlich, denn den Schlüssel und das Frühstück gibt’s in einem anderen Hotel.

Mir hat in dieser Pension nichts gefallen. Man wird direkt angelogen und abgezockt!

Diese Pension ist reine Abzocke. Man wird direkt angelogen und erhält keine Rückerstattung. Betreiber ist die Lauter & Lauter GbR. Hier muss man im Winter ohne Heizung in heruntergekommenen Zimmern ohne Ersatzdecken übernachten. Das Gebäude wirkt von außen heruntergekommen und verlassen. Der Zimmerschlüssel muss in einem anderen Hotel abgeholt werden, das nur über ein Café zugänglich ist. Bei Ankunft gegen 16 Uhr stellten wir fest, dass in einem der zwei gebuchten Zimmer die Heizung nicht funktionierte (Ende Dezember, Minusgrade). Das Rezeptionspersonal versprach einen Techniker oder ein Ersatzzimmer. Am Abend wurde uns von der Rezeption erneut bestätigt, die Heizung funktioniere nun. Dies stimmte leider nicht. Als wir gegen 23 Uhr zurückkehrten, war das Zimmer weiterhin kälter als draußen, Zusatzdecken gab es nicht. Telefonisch erreichten wir nur noch eine Person der Lauter & Lauter GbR, die angab, alle Mitarbeiter seien seit 22 Uhr im Feierabend und sie befinde sich in Wiesbaden – man könne nichts tun. Hinweise auf mögliche Notfälle wurden abgetan. Eine Rückerstattung wurde lediglich in Aussicht gestellt, jedoch bis heute nicht geleistet. Wir mussten schließlich zu zweit auf einer Matratze auf dem Boden in einem anderen Zimmer, das wir gebucht hatten, schlafen. Hier funktionierte die Heizung, der Zustand des Zimmers war aber auch heruntergekommen und dreckig. Die Heizung hier war heiß, aber nicht runterregulierbar. Beim Frühstück lernten wir mehrere Gäste, die gleiche Erlebnisse hatten, kennen. Erneut wurden wir von der Rezeption an eine Zentrale verwiesen, die bisher auf keine Rückerstattungsanfragen reagiert. Auch das Telefonat mit Booking.com hat leider bisher nichts bewirkt. Völlig inakzeptabel.

Für die Übergabe der Zimmerschlüssel gab es keine Information, dass dies 100 Meter weiter durchgeführt wurde (etwas unnötiger Weise ärgerlich).

Das Zimmer war groß, hell und freundlich eingerichtet. Besonders hat es uns gefallen das wir von unserem Fenster aus einen direkten Blick auf den Rhein hatten. Die Lage der Pension ist super. Wir hatten das große Glück das wir den Weihnachtsmarkt direkt vor der Tür hatten. Auch das Frühstücksbuffet ist sehr vielfältig. Einziger Nachteil ist halt, dass man von der Pension ins Hotel gehen muss zum frühstücken, was uns persönlich nicht gestört hat. Alles in allem muss ich sagen das, wenn wir nochmal nach Rüdesheim fahren, wir wieder hier buchen würden.
