Balmoral Guest House

Was told it was double booked just days before arrival, moved to different house in different part of town but same fee

Comfy beds and great breakfast! And I was given a free upgrade to a double en suite which was so kind and appreciated.

WiFi at top of the house didn’t work, but not a huge problem as I didn’t really need it when at guest house. My bathroom light also didn’t work, but again I didn’t mention this as it wasn’t a problem and was grateful for a free upgrade and the bigger room :-)

Andrew was really kind. He picked me up from the train station and gave us a lift back again. A very kind host.

Lovely building and lovely staff. Spacious room with a spare single bed. Sink in room as well as in shared bathroom. Close to the town centre, nice walk each morning. Andrew and the team were lovely, gave me a lift to the station as it was raining! Very kind!

Wifi signal wasn’t great at the top of the house, but I mostly used phone signal and didn’t raise it during the stay as I could manage.

The room had a very unpleasant smell like stale garlic.

The staff very friendly and welcoming, beyond expectation and the breakfast very good.

The property/room is in poor condition, and this does not reflect in the price. Room 4 had extensive water damage to the ceiling, and the shower over the bath had no shower curtain or screen. The sash window needs attention as it wouldn't stay open, and the carpet, thread-bare being a trip hazard.
