The room was beautiful and Anne was very hospitable and even dropped myself and another guest off en route to her other job to the start of a running race at the castle.

Great location, wonderful room, fairly easy to find. The bed was very comfy, the welcome was very warm and everything explained very well.

My wife didn't like the idea of walking through the landlady's front room to get in...but we didn't see anyone else during our stay; it was all very low key and quiet.

Warmth of welcome - and flexibility when we were unavoidably delayed. Advice freely offered on local pubs etc. Beautiful, large and comfortable room. Wholesome breakfast. A haven of tranquility. Access to the kitchen with fresh milk available.

'Perfect' can sound unrealistic but we honestly can't think of anything to fault or that could have been improved.

Everything was superb Anne was the perfect hostess A really lovely lady She made us feel so welcome The whole time spent here was just perfect Our room was large with private bathroom Everything was exceptionally clean and comfortable We where honoured to spend time in her home We will definitely come to stay again on our way to Scotland next time

Good private parking just by the front door. A very friendly welcome from Annie as soon as we arrived. A lovely big bedroom with tea and coffee and bottles of mineral water. I was able to put my special food in the big fridge (I have an awkward diet) and Annie took my ice blocks to refreeze them. Some traffic noise from the nearby road but it didn't keep me awake and I slept well. Large private bathroom with a wide choice of skin lotions etc. Breakfast was help yourself round the kitchen table with a wide choice of cereals etc. A very relaxing stay. We expect to return yet again.

Difficult to find any faults an I don't often write this. Oh yes, we ended up driving practically round the western side of Carlisle to reach the motorway going south as they still hadn't finished the local junction. We were away for 3 weeks (in May 2026) and assume it would be finished by our return - but oh no! 'Expected very soon' - seemed to be the answer.
