Windermere Lynwood Guest House

The guest house was lovely, it was clean and smelt really nice. The host was very friendly and welcoming and very helpful. Would definitely recommend this venue.

I was at the top of the guesthouse so a few stairs for anyone with mobility issues.

I understand it may because the wall is thin. But the person who stayed upstairs kept walking in the late night and you can hear it.

There is no breakfast supplied. The bed was comfortable and linens were clean.

I am a solo traveller, a woman in my mid seventies. I have travelled extensively across Europe, the Americas and SE Asia. I have used Booking.com extensively. The stay at the Lynwood Guest House was far from good. The shower had two temps - tepid and scalding, the postage stamp size TV was scrambled and unwatchable. So my plan of a nice shower and the Bake - Off episode were not to be. The bed was comfortable and generally the area was very clean but very out-dated in style. The remote control was filthy and had ingrained black dirt in it which is easily cleaned if attention was paid to such things. I was woken up at 11.30 by someone banging on a neighbours door and shouting. Check out was 10 am and as I was leaving there was a man standing outside the door. He did not introduce himself to me. He asked me how my stay was and I said it was awful and explained what my experience had been. I mentioned the shower temp problem and TV issue. He had a London type accent and looked to be in his late 50s. He was immediately hostile and defensive and brushed aside my experience saying no one else had complained. I said I had sent an email via Booking agent about the TV and he said he hadn't received it - I have proof I sent it. The TV remote was filthy and needed cleaning. At this point he got very agitated and mentioned I had asked for an early check in - this had been refused and I was fine with that. Then he proceeded to tell me in a very angry manner that I was a problem as soon as I set foot over the door. He was completely lacking in any form of grace. I asked him if he was not in the least way apologetic about my awful experience and he continued to rant about how awful I was. As a single, senior woman I felt quite threatened by him and the fact that he would talk to me in this way is totally unacceptable. All he had to do was say he was sorry I had not had a great experience but instead he chose to let loose his inner Basil Fawlty and berate me.

Superbly located, just a few minutes walk to the town centre.
