Duyung Rooms & Resto Gerupuk

The room wasn’t as advertised but still nice

the hosts are beautiful human beings and they will make you fall in love with Lombok people! The room is big, we had no AC but there was no need, the fan is enough and it's actually pretty cold during the evenings. I stayed with my partner and our little 2 year old and 3 more friends. We all had a blast! Food is DELICIOUS, the owner's wife can cook EVERYTHING! Surf is great and they will help with all you need!

Basic room but very clean,food in resteurant is good and cheep.Hosts are very nice and helpfull,they can arrange everything you need,bike,taxi,boat if you surf.

Such a lovely family running this homestay! Karyadi is very helpful with everything, he speaks english very well (and german!). His wife cooks very good food. The room was clean and we got water, towels and soap, so everything you need. The facilities are simple, but it‘s enough. Really good value for money.

The location was the only good thing this place had going for it. I would advise anyone reading this not to go here, the good reviews are unfortunately misleading :( .

Everything apart from the location. The room was dirty, but the worst part was my experience with the staff, particularly Mr Duyung himself (the owner). He appears charming and friendly at first, but please do not be deceived. My experience is that he sees tourists as a walking ATM and has no concern for their welfare whatsoever. Two examples stand out: Firstly, I needed to get to Bali to say goodbye to a friend. I asked Mr Duyung about the options available to me and he did not inform me about the local ferries that are available for 75k IDR or the small but faster boats that cost a little more. Instead, he tried to take advantage of my ignorance and offered the boat of a friend of his and tried to charge me 16 million IDR! (More than all of my travels from the UK put together!) When I realised I was being conned I did not go, but him and his friends then insisted that I paid a lot of money for the cancellation and I ended up paying in excess of 1.2 million IDR and got nothing from it. Secondly, Mr Duyung likes to offer the services of all his friends and family. It appears to be one big nepotic scam in Gerupuk, as the services received did not match the prices charged. I hired a faulty motorcycle from Mr Duyung. I told him twice that the brakes were faulty and that I had nearly had an accident because of it. He denied this and claimed to have tested them (by pressing them once from a stationary position). The next day I had a very serious road accident due to the faulty brakes (they did not work properly as I went round a corner) and Me Duyung’s only concern was for the motorbike, not for me. I nearly died and suffered a badly dislocated ankle and multiple fractures of my legs. I had to pay thousands of pounds of my savings in a hospital stay here and all Me Duyung was worried about was the bike because he is negligent in not insuring them here.
