Sollo Sollo Homestay

Good location and proximity to surf breaks (short scooter ride away). As a group of 4 we had two rooms next to each other. Ade, was very helpful organising scooters, boards and coconuts. He was a very accomodating host. Staying here, you are immersed in the local village, if you don’t mind 5am Prayer and a rooster wake up - it’s perfect.

We had an amazing stay at Ade’s homestay in Kertasari! Ade is super friendly and helpful, always making sure we had everything we needed. The homestay itself is clean, comfortable, and very well located – just a short ride to the beach and surrounded by peaceful nature. Kertasari is such a beautiful and special place, with stunning sunsets, uncrowded waves, and a really relaxed vibe. We loved every moment of our stay and can’t wait to come back. Thank you, Ade, for the great hospitality and unforgettable experience!

The heart and soul of sollo sollo - Ade, is the reason why i rated this stay a perfect 10. The place is a true homestay, a home away from home. Yes the facilities are basic but it’s part of the experience. Any sensitive sleepers should maybe think twice or pack ear buds as the town comes alive from 4.30am

A shower might be a nice addition

The Sollo-Sollo Homestay offers simple comfort with a large bed, mosquito net and fan in the room. Washing area with outside tap, WC room with shower. The location directly on the small "harbour" in front of the door. Cute goats and chickens often come to visit at the gate. All in all a simple but cosy and nice herbege. Mr Ade, on the other hand, is very friendly, open and polite and takes good care of his guests. He is available as a contact person and gave us an insight into his coconut palm farm/homestay project. We were allowed to drink and eat fresh coconut and visit the construction of the typical Indonesian house, which will be available for other guests once it is finished. He recommended local places and introduced us to a cool guy from whom we could hire surfboards and equipment. All in all, a good stay.

The rooms are basic but comfortable, in particular the mattresses are very good. We loved the location, right in the little village with a couple of warungs only a few minutes away by scooter. The real highlight though was the hospitality of our host Adie. When we arrived Adie took us on a tour of the local area, including to his coconut farm where he shared fresh coconuts with us. Adie also invited us and other guests to his family home to share iftar with us, so generous and the food was delicious! We felt very looked after during our stay.

Thanks to Ade we had dinner with everybody staying at the homestay together. As a solo traveller this was a nice experience. It is a lovely village and Ade is eager to help you with anything you need.

You have to enjoy basic facilities and a local setting. I love this but if you don’t better to go somewhere more fancy.

It’s like living like a local, between the locals. Ade even invited me to eat iftar with him and i could borrow his own surfboard!

It has no luxury that i am used too but that is the beauty of it :)

If you want to go back to basics in a local community this is your place! Prices for everything in sumbawa are higher then a lot of more touristy places in insonesia so if you want the same luxury for the same price beter to visit another town. That being said this is the best find you will get. The facilities are very basic (no ac, asian toilet in the room i booked) but if you want those things in sumbawa you pay a high price. The host is very eager to make you as comfortable as possible. So if you need anything or want to discover the neighbourhood, he is there!

Thanks to a big storm that ruined many houses in the neighbourhoud, all my stuf got wet unfortunately. But Ade tried everything in his power to make up for this. I was even invited to share iftar with his family. Very thankfull 🙏
