Very welcoming and beautiful location

All the glowing reviews are right: this place is wonderful. Such a beautiful location, close to amazing hikes; everything is like in the pictures; breakfast was great; and Nena was such a caring, thoughtful host. She gave us excellent hiking advice, loaned us her map, and even texted to make sure we were ok when we were hiking longer than expected. We felt really cared for, but also had as much privacy as we wanted. Unbeatable!!!

The house is in a stunning location set high above the traditional mountain village of Stemnitsa. It is full of character, original furniture and local textiles. The rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable. Breakfast overlooking the mountain was delicious and plentiful with homemade bread and jam and omelettes. The true treasure of this place though was Nena, the owner. She greeted us like old friends with a warm hug and could not have been more kind and helpful. We loved this place!

Wow! The historic house with beautiful views and comfortable rooms; a generous friendly host, Nena, with expert local knowledge who is proactive in ensuring guests enjoy the whole area; delicious filling breakfast.

The owner prepares breakfast everyday for us, this was a unique gastro experience. All products super fresh and local recipes. Highly recommended.

There was nothing that i did not like.

The breakfast, the nice common area/kitchen, and fireplace in the room were big pluses!

We had a fantastic stay at Mpelleiko. Our host Nena was the best we have ever had, and we are very well travelled. We stayed at the property the beginning of October and the weather was perfect for hiking but the nights cool enough for a jacket. Nena met us in town so we could follow her to her property and show us where to park. Our room had everything we could possibly want even a torch for walking down to the town to eat at night. It is a wonderful property built in the 1600's and the garden outside is beautiful. I had a head cold when we arrived so Nena made me a drink from her grandmother's recipe to help the symptoms. Breakfast was amazing it was was home made from local produce and from her own garden. Bread was stone milled and home made it really was superb, the views from the breakfast room were stunning We wanted to do a days hike from Stemnitsa to Dimitsana so Nena sat down with us and explained the route, advised us which way to go and said she would call a taxi for us when we got to Dimitsana and also gave us a map to use. Towards the end of the walk the signs disappeared so we called Nena and she talked us through till we got back on the trail. Walking down into the town for dinner in the evening meant navigating quite a few stairs, it took less than 10 mins and we were happy to do that, but you could always drive instead and it would only take a few minutes. Stemnitsa has limited restaurant options, we ate at the pub both evenings, the meals were tasty and enormous. Dimitsana has more eating options but we were pleased we stayed in Stemnitsa as it is small, quaint and beautiful, we really loved our stay at Mpelleiko with our wonderful host

Nena was an exceptional host, she provided terrific advice for local walks and restaurants. Breakfast was fantastic and varied each day of our stay. The rooms were very quaint and comfortable.
