Junia Guesthouse Bukit Lawang

The staff, the rooms, the environment, everything was the best of the best. Every room they have has something special, a kind of nature feeling. We congratulate the ones who designed it! The staff is always willing to listen and help you out with whatever question you have. They have arranged a Jungle tour for us. We went 3 days 2 nights. Again, nothing is to much. Superb guide who knows a lot of the jungle, the pace is what is convenient for you. Lunch, diner, breakfast its all there, and better then in a hotel 😀. Sleeping in tents in the jungle next to a nice small river.

Great location and excellent staff, our guides, Andika and Eman were fantastic. The food was great and a good laundry service, they were able to help with transport to our next destination. Our one day hike was great and we saw wild Orangutans which was special,

We loved our stay at Junia Guesthouse! We went on the 3 day jungle trek and got to see orangutans up close! We stayed one night at the guesthouse before and after our trek. The bungalow was nice, the food great and the staff very friendly. Furthermore Bukit Lawang is a beautiful town located just by the river.1

No AC in the bungalow, but the fan made it no problem to sleep.

Very beautiful location right next to the jungle, but also within walking distance of the restaurants. Beautiful and spacious rooms and very good value for money. The bed is very comfortable. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and makes the stay very special. We really enjoyed our time here.

No warm water in the shower

The hotel is near the river and beginnig of the jungle. The hotel is very relaxing, the staff is really great and our room was also good. We stayed in the cottage and you could hear the monkeys walking on the roof.

Nothing bad at all, everything was good or was solved proffesionally by the staff.

We enjoyed so much this family run guesthouse, where they will all do their best for you to enjoy your stay. All family and staff members will make you feel at home. The place is lovely, amongst the nicest we saw in Bukit Lawang, on the other side of the river (with respect to the main car road). Expect a 5-10mn walk + a hanging footbridge. If your luggage is heavy, you can have porters for a fee. We booked the superior bungalow, and were not disappointed, clean, with AC (not strong but enough), hot water, and wifi also in the bungalow. That really helps after a tiring trek. They have a restaurant for all meals, with good food. We asked them to arrange our pickup from Medan airport, transportation to Toba, and back to Medan: all well organized, no hassle. We also went on the one-day trek with them. It is November, so wet season, we experienced good sunny weather in the morning (good for the trek), then rain around late afternoon and/or evening. They got a great guide for us, prepared our picnic lunch, and we enjoyed a lot our day in the forest. It is not an easy walk, steep climbing up and down, hot and humid weather, can be muddy/slippery. But if you have no issue at walking, it is not hard neither, you don't need to be a sportsman. And we got rewarded by the orangutans, that are the main goal of the trip, but also gibbons and langurs. Wonderful memories. A truly wonderful experience, we were happy to rely on Junia's team.

Everything was great. The staff/family that owns the place were very kind and helpful. We hope to return in the future!
