Rowinrich Cottages

We were a group out of four people living in two different double rooms. It’s the most beautiful place I’ve been staying in whole Sri Lanka! The view from the balconies was amazing and the rooms are big and cozy with a really nice furniture. Also the host was very friendly! Highly recommended 😊

Perfect location. Close to the main street with all cafes and restaurants we walked for diner and back, but far enough to have a quiet and peacefull stay. Owner is very nice and helpful. We changed 3 times our stay in Ella. This was the best

Spacious rooms

Access thru steep stairs and facilities are not adequate

Very closer to the Ella town and railway station just 10 minutes walk. Very calm and quiet place with a nice view of the Ella rock.

The rooms (all the three rooms of us) were bit dusty and had huge cobwebs on walls specially in the upper single bedroom area. No tea, sugar refills, no bathroom amenities just a small soap. Bed linen of the upper single bed were dusty looked like haven’t changed for several days. If they maintain and clean the property well this would be one of the a great place to stay in Ella.

The views were brilliant and the property is tucked away from the town so is very quiet and peaceful. The room itself was really nice and came with everything you needed. Some areas could use a little touch up but they were only small like the bathroom tap needed to be re glued, the bathroom lock needed replacing as it didn’t work and one of the screws in the steps leading up to top area was loose making the step a bit hazardous. These are all small things in my opinion and don’t take away from the property as a whole. Also other reviews have said it is up a steep hill which is true but if you are a reasonable fitness level it’s no problem at all.

The room was amazing and was insanely big! We had a very comfortable stay here. The location was a little out of town (it’s a lot of hills and stairs but that didn’t bother us) but an easy 10 minute walk. Would definitely recommend staying here it’s great value for the price :)

Lovely tucked away cottage, away from the busy town but still within a good reachable distance. Amazing view, super helpful staff especially when we arrived later than expected. The bed was really comfortable and the place was nice and clean.

It was a shame they are now building more cottages within eyeline of our balcony view that would normally make you feel like you are more secluded in nature. Hopefully they will be trees to eventually hide the new cottages away from the view above.

The rating of previous guests convinced us to book this property but we were disappointed. The location is nice above the buzz of the city but the beautiful mountains views are disturbed by the construction works on the site. Karthi is friendly and helpful.

Quite a few things didn’t work properly in our room. Karthi did fix it but our overall experience did not live up to the rating of previous guests unfortunately.
