So happy I worked our schedule around the availability of this accommodation. The Luna House was the perfect place to stay in Cusco. The views were breathtaking. The whole accommodation created a very authentic atmosphere from the architecture and deco to the kindness of the owners. It was definitely worth the short climb. Steps away from the icon streets, the aqueduct and Saqsaywaman archeological site. At night we were pleasantly surprised with a hot water bottle to keep us warm and the morning breakfast was delicious with fresh eggs, yogurt, etc. They also held our luggage until we got back from our 5 day trek to Machu Picchu. This is definitely a place I will return to when visiting Cusco again.

"Spectacular, breathtaking views, refreshing sleeps and a staff who were more like a cozy family."

10.0

The staff was so kind and the views were spectacular- some of the very best in Cusco. It was like a home away from home, with a sweet dog to welcome us and be there to watch the property, hot water bottles to warm our feet at night and a lovely homemade breakfast. The authentic nature of the place is what will bring us back.

It is SO important to drink water in Cusco and we forgot to grab some! If they add a bottle of water or two to the room even with a small extra cost, that would make it even better. Tea upon arrival, water in the room with a reminder to get more and some little crackers or cookies. It would be a very low cost to add this, but it shows they’re mindful that people are travelling and are not always thinking clearly.

"Charming, clean hotel; be prepared for lots of steps!"

9.0

Charming hotel away from the busy centre of town but not far from Instagrammable sites. Lovely staff, comfortable room; good breakfast with fresh fruit and made to order scrambled eggs or omelette; interesting location near the acqueduct. Every night 'Mr Alcides' would arrive at around 8pm with a warm hot water bottle to help keep the bed warm. There is a hostel with a cafe next door that had great live music when I was there on a Sunday (which finished around 8.30 so easy to get to sleep). This added to the atmosphere. Angela was always there via Whatsapp to answer questions.

My first night was freezing; I asked for a portable heater and got one! This made a huge difference. Some may find the steep stairs both at the property and to get there from the main centre difficult. The staff on site don't speak English but most communications were done via Whatsapp with English speaking Angela.

"Disappointing"

4.0

We really wanted to like this homestay however in the end we did not. Few things went wrong from the beginnings (small things like no towel on arrival, insisting on own’s preferred taxi that ended up double charging – for adding a stopover to pick up bags along the way - (please use uber, it works!), and a few other housekeeping mishap) which are not the end of the world. We did not like the location as it is really up the hill (which really matters if you are in Cusco at the elevation of 3500), hard to get there by taxi, and we found that the price of the room was almost the same as when we stayed near the main square, which we preferred more. So there was really not much benefit staying up in the hill. The main door’s bell doesn’t work (getting to the homestay’s (other) park entrance involves a hike). We managed to get in by knocking but please check the bell’s battery.

The room was super cold, even with jackets on we were freezing, the bed was comfortable with thick layer of linen and blanket and complementary hot water bottle (bed warmer), however if you were out of the bed it was just uncomfortably cold. We did get a heater eventually but that couldn’t do miracle and the common room was also cold and only heated during breakfast. Window door slide did not seal tightly so heat might have escaped there and insects found there way easier in when the light was on in the evening. Nearby restaurant/hostel was playing live music on two evenings that was also ruining the quiet location. The room does not come with bottled water, or cups, or kettle, or fridge. The homestay does have a kitchen but there was no sign that we could use it. There were complimentary hot beverages (tea bag, coco leaves), however the thermostat with water was more often lukewarm than hot, but mostly it was just empty. There was no kettle in the kitchen either to make a hot tea. For breakfast you only get tiny piece of cereal and plain scrambled egg, unlike the full buffet we experienced in another hotel in Cusco. You can only pay with cash at this property which is very strange, so we had to withdraw cash from an ATM with exorbitant charges and walk around Cusco with few hundred dollars in our pocket to pay the room until we got back to the homestay. What made our stay really disappointing that as we woke up early to get a 7am breakfast (as breakfast was advertised between 7-9) before we head to the airport to leave Cusco; at 7am no breakfast preparation was found. When staff came eventually, we waited until 7:20 but as there were still no sign of we getting breakfast anytime soon so we left without eating. All this inconsistency in service were just disappointing. We found the staff was courteous though.

Its up the hill and you have to climb stairs with luggage but the owners were absolutely amazing 🤩 the view it’s stunning 😍 the rooms are clean and very comfortable and the staff goes beyond to facilitate your needs (for example hot water bags in bed and extra heater) The breakfast its good ok just its not a buffet.

this place has an aura of a meditative retreat. The staff, whether Mr Alcides on site, or Angela via WhatsApp were simply amazing - going above and beyond to make the experience hassle free.

some sort of a heat source in a room would have been a nice bonus for a cold morning start :)

"Great hosts and great view :)"

10.0

Angela and Mr. Alcides were extremely kind and helped us with everything through our trip. They went out of their way to make sure we had a nice stay. Antares and Inti were also great hosts and helped us be less homesick :) The location is great (10-15 minute walk to Plaza de Armas), worth noting that you need to go uphill to reach the hotel. The uphill hike is certainly worth it for the view.
