Guests highly rate the fantastic location and frequently praise the clean and comfortable rooms.
BEThe hotel is well located. The manager of the hotel is kind and helpful. There is a restaurant where the food is good. The rooms are not brand new but, given the low price, it is good value for money.
USIt was great. I really wanted my own room, and so the rooms here were small and the decor a little drab, but it was clean and comfortable. I ended up upgrading to an AC room. The highlights were the location, the very friendly and helpful staff, and the restaurant downstairs as well as the cafe across the street. It was a big part of my enjoying Varanasi was having somewhere to escape the craziness. A special shoutout and thank you to Muskan, Dalip, and Umar!
INI stayed at Brown Bread Bakery Guest House during my visit to Banaras, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The biggest advantage of this place is its location—just a few steps from the ghats, which makes it perfect for exploring the spiritual and cultural heart of the city. The rooms are clean, well-maintained, and fairly priced, offering good value for money. However, there are a few drawbacks to be aware of. First, there’s absolutely no parking space available—not even for two-wheelers. I had to park my bike around 500 meters away, which was inconvenient. Second, the bathrooms are basic and only offer tissue—there is no jet spray, which might not suit everyone’s preferences. If you're traveling light and without a vehicle, this guest house is a great choice for its location and comfort. But for those who need parking or specific bathroom amenities, it might be a bit of a compromise.

ESGreat location and nice staff.
The room was uncomfortably warm, especially at night.
ITA wonderful stay in the old city
BEThe location is good, very close to ghats and some nice restaurants nearby
The room was simple, could be more clean. You hear everything from the outside. But what I really didnt like was that I booked a tour (sunset boat and aarti ceremony) with them and while I paid for a private one, they wanted to put me on a group trip. After I asked about this, suddenly there was a boat just for me. But it was chaotic, the boat ride lasted 1h instead of two, it also started late and in order not to miss the evening ceremony I had to got off the boat in the middle of the ghats. After I raised a complain with them about how poor the experience was and asked for a half of the price to be returned (as what I got was half of what they promised), the guide (who also worked in the guesthouse) argued with me and shouted at me. The place is cheap and you cannot expect luxury but I would have at least expected not to be treated in this way.
THGreat staff, excellent location, reliable and fast wifi. The washrooms are always clean. Many thanks!
GBWhat a fab stay we had at Brown Bread Bakery Guest House! The accommodation has such a charming character, we absolutely loved it. The rooms are basic but you have everything you need - a bed, shower and a fan/ac. Rooftop terrace was lovely too. The food was just delicious! We would normally have an omelette for breakfast and indian food for dinner, and a cake too. Our favorite was probably the apple pie (and trust me, we've tried them nearly all) and their multiseeded vegan sourdough was to die for! I had a running joke with the staff about chocolate croissants (always sold out when I wanted one) and a mango lassi (mangoes were out of season) I kept trying to order every day. Their chocolate lassi was really tasty too. The staff were was attentive, pleasant, friendly and put up with my daily teasing with a laugh. Fantastic atmosphere. Oh and the daily cow visitors were hilarious! We loved our stay and would go back if traveling to Varanasi again.
The bed was quite hard.
GBI loved the authentic, no nonsense feel of the place. It is run in very ethical way and it is supporting Learn for Life project. Location is very good, wi-fi works well, nice rooftop restaurant.
