"Pretty room with lovely garden view"

6.0

Nice, pretty room with two windows and a balcony overlooking the lovely, shrine filled garden. Big room with mirror, table and stool and a large locking wardrobe. Fan was over the bed and was enough to keep cool. Breakfast was ok but on the small size. Friendly staff, good location in town. Shuttle bus prices were cheaper than advertised around town. Wifi didn't work in the room the first day but did the next two. Room wasn't cleaned the three nights we stayed. No free drinking water or soap. Bed cover was too small for two people, no sheet just a thin small quilt.

"Nice and central"

8.0

When we arrived we found flowers everywhere including on our towels. We decided immediately to stay one day more. Pity the owner is available to help and support customers and can arrange any kind of transport or tour. The place is central and with a5 min walk it is possible to reach the monkey forest or the market.

"Ok room in the middle of Ubud"

8.0

Stayed two nights at Astiti Guest House. Host Putu was very helpful and arranged a massage, scooter for a day and transport to the airport all at more competitive rates than I could get on the street. Bed was ok but particularly comfortable. Room was clean. Breakfast provided was not great so ate out locally the second morning. For the price it was I the middle of town and was fine.

"Double room - 3 nights"

10.0

We got there and the mini courtyard at the reception was beautiful, and we immediately felt welcomed with help with our baggage and ice cold water. We had originally only booked 2 nights but needed 3, so they rang the boss and we spoke to her and she was more than happy to let us stay another night. The room was big, spacious, clean, well decorated with our own ensuite wet room with toilet. For the price (£8 a night for both of us), it was actually incredible. AC not included but the ceiling fan was more than enough, setting 5 felt like a helicopter hovering overhead. 10 minute walk to both the monkey sanctuary and the main Ubud strip with palace etc. Breakfast included - great coffee and a different breakfast every time - ranging from pancakes, omelette, toast and fresh fruit. The main hostess was absolutely lovely. Would 100% recommend staying here.

"BEWARE OF SCAMS!!!!! Dodgy "

2.0

Firstly the room we got was actually very nice and clean offering a balcony. HOWEVER, we had no water for the whole of our stay. So no shower, couldn't clean teeth, or flush the toilet. Throughout the stay constantly knocking on our door or making us go downstairs to speak to the boss on the phone. Pointless conversations. More importantly we booked our shuttle bus and boat ticket with them to Lembongan...we were told the ticket included both shuttle bus and boat. We paid the price that was advertised on most tourist agents. However once we left and arrived at the ferry port we were told there was no boat for us and we would have to pay for another ticket!!! So basically they scammed us for the money but didn't even book us a seat on the boat! Highly frustrating. We have travelled for 7 months around SE Asia and this is the first time we have had a problem. We would not advise booking anything through them to save yourself any problems! The staff always seemed very dodgy and everything had to go back through the phone to the boss, even on simple questions.

"Intruder "

4.0

The minute I stepped through the door after a long day of travelling there were four workers in my room trying to squeeze money out of me. The description says air con and breakfast was included. I had to haggle for everything, even my taxi(which was their friend) to the airport.. 450k! I managed to get another one for 250k. Felt like an intruder and couldn't wait to leave! They tried to make me pay extra for towel, wifi, aircon, fan and breakfast until I questioned it! It was clean..

"Loved It"

8.0

I came to Ubud with my two friends on our 6th week of our 9 week travels. Arriving late at night we walked along the road trying to find a homestay, as we had found them to be overall cheaper for the three of us to share a room than to each pay for a hostel bunk. An extremely friendly lady saw we were struggling and said she owned a homestay around the corner. It was very fairly priced and very central to all the sights in Ubud, so we decided to go with her. On arriving we were pleasantly surprised with a wonderful room, in an old style Hindu building. It was spotless, the mattresses were a dream, topped with cosy blankets, not to mention the shower head the size of a wok. We were in heaven and all had a well deserved 12 hour uninterrupted sleep. To top it all off our love for banana pancakes began with a delicious breakfast made for us the next morning. Astiti further provided us with bikes to ride to the rice terraces and relaxing full body massages to follow for a small price. All in all we had a relaxing and cultured time in Ubud and Astiti complemented our time we spent there.

"Cheap and Nasty"

2.0

I would not recommend a mani/padi. This was the downright definition of a cheap and nasty mani/pedi. I went into this 'day spa' off the street with my friend for an delux 60 min manicure and pedicure with a massage. The filled a plastic tub with cold water and chucked a couple of flowers in it. Oh I've forgot to mention that we have by now been waiting over half an hour whilst there are no other customers. Finally they get started and they used dirty clippers and files to treat our toe nails, I tried to ask if they had been/could be cleaned since their last use. They could hardly speak a word of English, eventually she swished it through the water in the tub and dried it on the leg. Now for the polish, every bottle was a different no name brand some empty, some dry and some okay. She painted my nails and dried them in between with a hair dryer. She grabbed for the top coat which had 2ml of polish in it, she flipped the bottle around in the hope of getting some polish out. I found another bottle of top cost also half full and gave it to her to use. The lady working on my friend grabbed the empty top coat and filled it with polish remover and proceeded to use it on her feet. The outcome looks okay from a distance but I am currently awaiting a fungal nail infection from todays trip to the 'day spa'. After all this we called our friend to rescue us as we had originally asked for a mani too and there was no way we were waiting around for that. The cost was RP 7,000 and was hardly worth it.
