Ruoti 1885

AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING! The Ruoti 1885 B&B is one of a kind. Upon arrival, Antonia met us at a free parking area and provided historic details about Ruoti on the short walk to the property. The fully renovated property, built in 1885, hence the name, is beautiful and impeccably maintained. Our room was spacious and so comfortable. The bathroom was enormous and modern. The view from our “Sunset Room” of the rolling hills of the area was stunning. Antonia prepared a scrumptious breakfast with local pastries, toast, homemade jams, fruit, yogurt, and farm fresh eggs. There is much to discover in this quaint town with cobblestone streets and welcoming people. We visited Ruoti as my husband has roots there. Antonia arranged a meeting with a town historian who was able to help us find that there was still family in the town. This historian has been working to reunite families and is doing much research to find out why families moved away at the turn of the century, where they moved, what work they did, and where the remaining family lives. The enthusiasm that he had with diving into historic records to help was truly amazing. It was a whirlwind two days in which we were able to meet a cousin and aunt and get to know this special town. Of course, Antonia was with us every step. She was our interpreter, ensured we got to our meetings, and provided recommendations of other places to visit in the region. We can’t thank her enough for all she did exceeding our expectations of our visit to Ruoti. We were treated like family and can’t wait for our next visit. This part of Italy is truly remarkable. If you have roots here or not, don’t hesitate to book a stay at Ruoti 1885 B&B.

Having to leave and not staying long enough!

I enjoyed everything so much. Marco and Antonia are the best hosts I've ever had in all my travels. Additionally, Ruoti is such a quaint and peaceful village, and the surrounding scenery is incredibly beautiful, rain or shine.

There was nothing I didn't like, except having to leave.

The hosts were amazing! They knew everyone in town. They made us an a delicious breakfast. They knew personally my relatives in town, and helped us Connect with them. We are truly indebted to their Antonia and Marco for their wonderful hospitality. They helped make our vacation a memory of a life time!

It could have been better if we stayed longer

What an amazing stay we had at Ruoti 1885! Antonia and Marco were the most amazing hosts we have ever met. We went to visit Ruoti to explore my family’s roots. Antonia and Marco helped us by giving us a tour of Ruoti. We visited the Church where my ancestors were baptized and the streets where they were born. They also arranged for us to meet with the town historian who was able to find a distant cousin based on my family tree and a 40 year old photograph of a few of my family members. Antonia and Marco are the nicest, most pleasant people you will ever meet. They are very responsive to your needs and are always willing to assist you with anything you want to know about or see in Ruoti. Their breakfast was amazing. Fresh meats and cheeses, homemade jams, yogurt and croissants; all served in an outdoor terrace. Ruoti 1885 is a beautiful place that has been completely renovated and beautifully decorated. The bedroom and TV room is large and comfortable, and the bathroom is large and modern. Everything is extremely clean. My wife and I highly recommend staying at this wonderful Bed & Breakfast. Thanks to Antonia and Marco, we had a very memorable experience. They truly made us feel like family!

Antonia and her husband were amazing hosts! They were so kind and helpful. Antonia gave us a tour of the town and helped my husband connect with his family. She helped with translation, booking restaurants, suggested hikes; they went over and beyond. The breakfasts were homemade and fantastic. She treated us like family! We liked everything

If you had planned to spend the night in Potenza, then Ruoti is a much better choice. The quiet, cozy and crooked streets are a perfect place to wander around. Here you will also find a city walk, where famous former citizens are presented with their history and artistic works to illustrate their achievements. The road up to the center of Ruoti is both extremely steep and winding. Antonia met us on the way to make sure we arrived safely at the city's square where the car could be parked. From here it was only a short walk to the beautifully restored house from 1885, which has been owned by Antonias husband, Marcos, family. We were lucky to get "the sunset room", a large and spacious room with a view, a super good mattress and cozy corner. The very big bathroom had both a tub and a shower. Everything was spotless clean and tasteful. We were invited up to the cozy terrace, where breakfast is served on sunny and warm days. Marcos offerd to book a table for us at a local restaurant. Fortunately, Antonia and Marco followed us to the door, otherwise we would never have found the place. The  entrance was through the butcher's shop. The butcher, his wife and an assistant were terribly busy serving us and other guests, but were never too busy for a smile and a friendly remark. We had a very large selection of grilled and fried local specialities and mozzarella and it is also possible to get both fries and salads. The breakfast was the absolute best of our 2 week vacation with bread, home-made jams, home-baked cake and fresh fruit, juice and of course both coffee and tea. The stay with Antonia and Marco was in every way an unforgettable experience.
