Antonia and Marco are absolutely fantastic. They are the warmest and most welcoming hosts I have ever had the pleasure to stay with. Ruoti is a very special place. It is the essence of authentic Italy in the heart of beautiful Basilicata. And within that very beautiful and special place, Antonia and Marco welcome you into their home not just as guests, but rather as long lost family who have finally returned. The lovely home is perfectly located in the heart of town, down cobblestone streets near beautiful piazzas with amazing views, and near warm, welcoming neighbors you’ll meet as you walk the cobblestone streets of the village to nearby restaurants serving delicious local cuisine. Inside the lovely B&B are beautiful, spacious rooms with comfortable beds, large, well-appointed bathrooms, and windows that frame amazing views of the tiled rooftops of Ruoti and the rolling hills and fields of Basilicata. After you wake to the smell of freshly brewed coffee and the morning sounds of nature and the waking village, Antonia and Marco prepare an amazing breakfast, served on a lovely terrace, complete with freshly brewed coffee, juices, fruits and varied breads, pastries and delicacies they prepare from fresh, local ingredients. The delicious marmalade we enjoyed over fresh yogurt was prepared by Antonia and Marco from fruit gathered from Marco’s family’s black cherry trees. Just one of many examples of the loving and special touches you’ll find when you stay at Ruoti 1885.

The only thing I did not like was that we had to leave. Our stay was much to short and we very much look forward to our return, which we are already planning for next year.
