Guesthouse Tamura

Very quiet and peaceful, fantastic location for discovering the old part of town on foot, host-cooked Japanese breakfasts were fabulous, delicious and healthy. We had the double tatami room which was spacious. Sharing the bathroom(s) and toilet(s) was totally fine for us, never any queues, very clean. Hosts were friendly and also respected our privacy.

There was nothing we didn’t like.

My favorite place to stay when visiting one of my favorite places in Japan is Guesthouse Tamura. I could stop at location, location, location because that is what most people look for when making a booking. Guesthouse Tamura is located in a jewel of a location; nearly every main attraction is within a short walk. But we enjoyed Gueshouse Tamura because of the excellent and friendly staff who go over the top to provide a relaxing getaway, truly a 10 out of 10 in all aspects of our stay.

We had an absolutely wonderful three-day, two-night Valentine's getaway! This charming retreat was our third visit to Guesthouse Tamura, and once again, it exceeded all of our expectations. The ambiance was very warm and romantic, the services were exceptional, and we truly felt pampered throughout our stay. We will certainly return again, perhaps again this year for another visit.

An actual home! Hostess spoke perfect English. Super hospitable with lots of thoughtful nice touches. Luxurious shower, onsen every evening. Always available coffee and tea. We felt pampered. Over 100 years old so architectural details were beautiful. Shortcut to deer park through Nara Hotel parking lot. Nice garden.

For some rooms, in winter, simply be prepared for short outside passageway to shower room-not a problem, it was part of the experience.

Excellent breakfast both in terms of cost-performance and actual quality. Comfortable rooms. Overall cost is very reasonable.
