Avenue House

Very close to the Bakewell town centre, Buxton is nearby plus a very easy run to Chatsworth House, Avenue House was clean, tidy and comfortable beds

Nothing to dislike

Great location with parking included. Lovely clean room with comfortable bed, nice bathroom and fridge outside room which was a bonus. Breakfast is great and the host is a lovely woman who can’t do enough for you - will definitely be returning.

I didn't like not having a door on the toilet ! In my whole life I have never stayed anywhere where I have to go to the toilet in the corner of my bedroom without being able to shut a door. Fortunately my partner and I have been together for over 30 years, so we can cope with a certain lack of privacy (I prefer some privacy even from my partner though), but I can only imagine how awful it would have been if I had booked a romantic break with a new partner. I would rather have a bathroom down the corridor, as in earlier times, than have an 'en suite' that means going to the toilet without privacy.

Instructions for self check-in were vague and without the help of another guest we would still be there trying to check in. On-site parking was an advantage but with a full house it was a very tight squeeze. The lighting in the house was dark and had a feeling of an old haunted house.

It was great, location very lovey and easy access to the town of Bakewell. The appointments and dining area was good. It is self check in, which worked fine as long ads you know to do it.

Parking worked but it says parking for 6 cars. There were 5 and the area was full. That said it worked for the day we were there.

Avenue House is a very clean and spacious B&B with parking and breakfast (5 star breakfast!) thrown into the overall cost. Room no.5 is very well appointed, spacious, with a very comfortable bed and pillows (very nice after long walks). The property is ideally located to explore Bakewell town centre and its parks, bars and restaurants and the river Wye, all on foot.

There is nothing I didn’t like about this property!
